Which one's are their so called "Obscure" releases? |
Industrial/Goth Rock/Metal
I don't keep up with modern stuff as much as i should. I know i like industrial like NIN, Manson, Ministry, Pigface, KMFDM, White Zombie, etc. I've checked out a few bands on myspace like Crud and Turmion Kätilöt.
Or oldschool style "goth" bands like Bauhaus or Alien Sex Fiend. Any recommendations? |
You might wanna check out the Electronica forum a bit too if you like beats.
Bands you might like... Autechre Julien-K(strongly suggest) Front 242 Celldweller Blutengel Cruxshadows Prodigy Wumpscut Skinny Puppy Zeromancer Mindless Self Indulgence(maybe? Just thought I'd throw that in there) All worth a listen or two. |
Industrial
And if you don't mind electronic stuff, you could check out my compilation as well.(and the bands related to it) EBM - Compilation(just scroll down a bit) |
Has anyone checked out Icon Of Coil? Machines Are Us is a great album that slipped under the radar somewhat.

Dear god, where is the love? The cold-hearted adoration for all things mechanistic, nihilistic and twisted beyond recognition? There are few styles of music, if any, that call to question the very foundation of my existence and my understanding of our place in the universe as much as industrial does. I've always enjoyed "challenging" music, and for a long time metal was my primary fix for it. It was a while before I got exposed to real industrial music (i.e. not the silly goth danceclub stuff), but I find it growing on me more and more with time, and displacing metal as the main "extreme" music genre in my life.
Favorites: Ministry, Coil, Revolting Cocks, Rammstein (**** the haters), Test Dept. Some 'loosely industrial' groups that also rule: Swans, Lustmord, Autechre Others I enjoy in moderation but am not crazy about: Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, In Slaughter Natives, Apollyon Sun, Pigface Ministry, Coil and Swans are absolutely brilliant, and imo stand head and shoulders above all the others I've heard. You should all start discussing industrial music here so I can reach my 15 post count and start spamming this thread with youtube vids. :) I'm relatively new to the genre, so recommendations are also appreciated (oh, and before anyone mentions either, I've spent some limited time with Throbbing Gristle and Einsturzende Neubauten and neither has really clicked for me yet). |
