You're right, Megadeth are very talented
Yeah, you know the funny thing is I like Slayer quite a bit too (and I've even seen them live in concert several times), but they're just a (slightly above) average band now if you focus on their new material.Their prime was with Seasons In The Abyss. They were without a doubt incredible then!!!

When you add Divine Intervention, Reign In Blood and God Hates Us All though, that's only a few good albums and I don't think they're anywhere near as great as Metallica or Megadeth, let alone Judas Priest and Black Sabbath(?)!!!

Now Iron Maiden, that's an exception...lol!!! They have long since faded and Piece Of Mind is like their best sample of music...unless you count their greatest hits album(s) or something...lol!!!Slayer clearly is the better example of true metal in this case!!!

Now, when we talk about Metallica and Megadeth, it's pretty much about who you prefer, yet I'm probally as big of a fan of one as the other. Both bands have around 8+ albums that are good and atleast 4 that are stellar - ...And Justice For All/Kill 'Em All/Master Of Puppets/Metallica...and...Rust In Peace/Countdown To Extinction/Youthanasia/Cryptic Writings, etc...

As great as Megadeth and Metallica are, they are still just extremely talented disciples to the people that actually invented metal:

1. Judas Priest with the one and only "Metal God" Rob Halford.

&

2. Black Sabbath with the "Prince Of Darkness" Ozzy Osbourne.

Any metal artist should be greatful towards Judas Priest and Black Sabbath whether they actually like them or not!!!The simple fact is that they created the original style(s) of hard-rock/metal in order to evolve into what comes out today...God bless 'em!!!

For anyone who doesn't think that those 2 bands were the most important/influential metal bands ever, just ask some of these artists themselves:

-Metallica.
-Anthrax.
-Zack Wylde...duh!!!
-Pantera.
-White/Rob Zombie.
-Everybody...literally!!!

All there is left to say is God bless metal!!!

Im asking this honestly, why can't we have a thread about metal without you telling us why their influences were more important?

That idea sounds good to me right about now!!!

And to the guy who said he only heard 10 songs...what have you been waiting for(?)!!!I'd probally have 40-50 songs if I were to make a g.h. album of theirs...lol

In closing, I'd like to know what 10 (Megadeth) songs you actually have heard, cheers!!!

Well it's probably pretty obvious that I'm a Priest fan, lol. I really like black Sabbath too, and both bands were very influential.
I'll have to listen to more of Slayer's stuff- to be honest I've heard hardly anything, so I've not given them a fair chance.
I'm surprised that you don't like Maiden though. They've got a lot of good albums too. Take it you won't be going to see them this year then.
I'm going to see them in December- can't wait!
And, yes, god bless metal. lol

Why can't we have a thread without somebody like you getting in it?

Seriously, I came in here to talk about metal and more importantly (atleast in a Megadeth thread) talk about Megadeth!!!

Somebody mentioned the big 7 and the thread built into a talk about those bands and not just Megadeth soon after.I decided to talk about some of those bands as well and I even said which bands of the big 7 I preferred most.

I only put in my 2 cents so that anyone who may have a different opinion on who I like/dislike more can see why I prefer one over the other.

If you think that I was trying to give you a class/lesson on metal, then I'm glad that I have taught you that!!!Obviously you have not learned ALL of your lesson yet...
...I didn't write the book on who's the most important metal artist(s), I simply told you who I prefer and why, case closed!!!

...See you next semester in HELL my friend...lol!!!

Yeah, I haven't been on much lately...
...I was kinda hangin' out in a couple of different forums as well, such as a Ted Nugent one and a Wrestling one...lol.

I remembered your name, but since you change your avatar every once in awhile, it's a good thing I'm not going to prison for a long time cuz then I might forget!!!

I don't have the d.v.d. yet, but I think I'll be checking it out soon!!!What does it include? The videos, live concert footage, backstage access, interview...what?

Anyways, I'll try to post some more on this forum so just talk to me whenever I'm on, cheers!!!

Correction:

I don't know why you thought I dislike Iron Maiden because I actually do like them and have their music in my collection!!!

As I said before, I didn't think they were anywhere near as great as the incredible metal artists such as Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Megadeth and Metallica.

Of course that is all just my opinion because, afterall, everyone has their own opinion, ya see?I mentioned Piece Of Mind if you didn't notice and if by some chance you didn't know, that is one of maiden's albums.

I like Piece Of Mind and I like quite a bit of maiden in general my friend. All I was really saying above was that they are the worst (atleast in my opinion) example of metal previously mentioned, yet they are still one of the greats no doubt!!!

Hope you're no longer confused, peace!!!
