That all being said, Sonic Unleashed had the best soundtrack of the series. Just incredible stuff. Such an eclectic and diverse set of sounds - all fitting their levels perfectly. I think besides SA2, which will always have the nostalgia advantage for me of being my first Sonic game, Unleashed is probably the best in the series. It's an absolutely gorgeous game - just listen to this:

A couple of the recent cuts were good, the hard-rocking "Ass Like An Ass (I Dig Your Ass)" and the ruminative ballad "Anthony Kiedis's Overdose Vomit"
