Really? His backup vocals is one of my favorite things about RHCP.
|
Agreed - his lead vocals are decent as well. Here is Frusciante covering How Deep Is Your Love. He pulls off those vocals pretty well in the second half.
|
I absolutely love John, my favorite of his albums are Curtains and Smile From the Streets You Hold-absolutely hated this the first time I heard, but now I can't get enough of it.
|
I only have THE WILL TO DEATH and some of the guitar work is stunning, however I find some of his vocal work weak at times. I would'nt mind getting some more of his solo work. A very underated guitarist.

You might want to check out To Record Only Water for Ten Days. My favourite album by him is Niandra Lades & Usually Just a T-Shirt - it's from his drugged-up period. I advise you to check it out sometime, but be warned that it is fairly inaccessible. However, if you scratch beneath the surface, it's quite a good album. Also, Ataxia is a minimalist group consisting of Frusciante, Joe Lally and Josh Klinghoffer. |

Thank's for the heads up. I will give these a go. |
A wonder man and amazing musician... I am so thankful we didn't lose him during his darks days in the middle 90s.
He has kept RHCP alive. |
So true Brock Landers, he pulled through the drug years and came out a great artist.
|
Ataxia is amazing... the more I listen to them the more I love them.

John Frusciante is a genius and my favorite guitar player. I love his rhythmic and soulful style that resembles Jimi Hendrix and his experimentation with effects. I only own one of his albums, Shadows Collide with People. I've listened to his earlier albums from the 90's a little bit and they are completely insane. Just look at the song titles. "Your pussy's glued to a building on fire." I'm not saying that heroin made his music necessarily worse, but anyone who has seen the short documentary Johnny Depp made about him would agree that it was a very sad time in his life.
