I have to admit when I first listened to Dream Theater I didn't like them. But as I kept listening more and more they grew on me. Some of the songs bore me, but I'm generally not a person who can tolerate a song that is longer than 7 minutes. They do have a lot of skill but I wish they'd use it to write songs that hold your interest for the 10+ minutes Dream Theater songs regularly go for.

I agree with Cardboard, thats stupid.

And not true.

What that there's no emotion? This is what's called music unappreciation. You've listened to rock, metal and prog and they seem pretty emotional, but you've never heard emotional music. Listen to Stravinsky's Firebird or Satie's Six Gnossiennes or even more traditional to you Miles Davis or so other great contempary composer. Rock music really lacks emotion when you compare it to these guys.

Yea, in your opinion. Your obviously not listening to the right "rock".

You obvoiusly know nothing about music. Stravinsky is a modern classical composer. It has nothing to do with the "right rock". Rock in general is emotionless compared to many neoclassical composers or even many Jazz artists. Don't get me wrong. I listen to rock/metal/prog all the time, but for the soul reason that it is catchy. The OP said that Dream Theater is emotionless and just full of catchy guitar parts which is the sole reason it's listened too. He's right, but all rock is just catchy and not emotional is what I'm saying.

Too bad classical music is boring trash made for pretentious fucks who feel the need to have something to be elitist about.

Both and Rock and Classical can be greatly emotional.
