Rock is not emotional? So I guess you feel only a permeating void when you listen to "catchy" music. It's gotta be Stravinsky to get any sort of chemical response.

Cardboard why even say that. Of coarse Stavinsky is the only emotional music. I thought u would have known that.

Permeating void? I'm not even going to go into the nonsensical phrase, but no I don't feel a void in rock music. Compared to Stravinsky, Rachmaninoff, Sergei Prokofiev, Satie and a number of others it's has virtually no emotion. The difference is to make rock concerts worth it a number of people take hallucinogens, or Cannabis (pot in all forms) to make it a concert fun. I'm sure you have all been to a concert and smelled a ton of pot. Hell I even got a contact high from it at a Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young concert, but if you ever went to see Stravinsky, the music does it for you.

this is the funniest god damned thread I've ever read through. I still have no idea how they ever got famous. And their side project Liquid Tension Experiment was much much better from what i recall.

The lead singer, again, if I remember correctly, was in a Canadian band called Winter Rose or White Rose or something like that. Enough Said.

I can no longer take your posts seriously. However, I have to point out that if I had the chance to go see Stravinsky preformed I would definitely go under the influence of hallucinogens or Cannabis (pot in all forms).

Yes you can no longer take someone seriously when they point out the obvious. Sounds like a typical headbanger. First of all if you did have the chance to see Stravinsky it's obvious you wouldn't go because you do all the time. His ballets are performed quite frequently. If you did go under hallucinogens or Cannabis you would miss the point of the music and be kicked out of the concert hall for making too much sound (yes this can and does happen).

^ Horticulturists do.

I think they would know a little about cannabis.

anywho,
exodizer,
I would like to point out to you that many, if not all of the composers you have mentioned did not play their own music for audiences,
therefore, the "rock bands" of today who play what they write put they're own feelings and emotions into it, which is why a lot of people get some sort of response to they're music.

One of the main reasons for the lack of popularity in classical music is that the only emotions invoked are coming from the listener,
and the listener has no one to relate to, unlike with current rock acts who's job it is to entertain and please audiences,
not write 4 hours ballets for rich and oppressive nobles in the 1600s.

but hey, what do i know
i listen to screamo.
