Default Anyone recommend something like this?

I've been searching for new music to listen to for a while, and I was wondering if anyone has any input. I'm looking for a "mid-range" heavy act similar to Tool or Porcupine Tree. Oh, and I also like prog.

But please, nothing mainstream. Its not that I'm snoody, I just already have my mainstream tastes figured out.

Many people compare Riverside to Porcupine Tree but I don't think they're that similar. Either way, both bands kick arse. Get Second Life Syndrome.

As for Tool, King Crimson is the obvious link there. You've probably heard them though. If you haven't, In the Court of the Crimson King is the best album to start with, however, I think Red is the best and the most Tool-like.

Have you tried Opeth? They're produced by Steven Wilson, and although they do incorporate a bit of screaming that can be irritating if you're not into that sort of that, the instrumentation and songwriting is excellent, and definitely heavy.
