But theres already a term for that, "Alternative", making "Indie" very unnecessary as a musical term... I call Pixies, Sonic Youth, Flaming Lips, Wilco and bands of the like Alternative, not Indie.

Then again, I'm funny that way, I actually do use Indie as a term, I call good Alternative bands Alternative, I call bad Alternative bands Indie, lol.

EDIT: Oh you got me there, if Indie is a genre than Pop can't be either... Wow, I got owned, what can I possibly say in response?............ Oh yeah, I just remembered, Pop isn't a genre either.

There are a lot of unnecessary music terms(Emo is the worse for that) that doesn't make them invalid. Alternative and indie are the same thing I don't know which term was used first. I really don't care.

I don't think anyone sincerely believes Courtney Love killed Cobain by herself, almost everyone who does believe he didn't kill himself believes she had someone else do it.

This 1001 genres crap is well, ... crap.

When John Kay first wrote/sang the words "heavy metal thunder" this genre thing was born. Soon followed acid rock, glam rock, country rock, and disco.

Now we got fuzzyemo-speedjazz-lovepunk-postsinatra-deathblues.

Give it up. It's just a guitar.
