Oh yes you can make that point. But my argument about Hitler only. I actually don't think it was right to group the two together for they are contrasting. Boo boo will have to explain Stalin

I will withdraw some earlier comments considering that I was, at one time a big nirvana fan, but then you get all these 12 year old girls obsessed with them, thinking Kurt is God, buying every shirt that Hot Topic produces of them, and then, in one experience of mine, a girl tried to tell me that Kurt Cobain was an all around better musician and bigger influence on music than....John Lennon!!!!! I realize that this is just an opinion and one that she couldn't back up with facts, but still, it angered me a little Then, the more I listened to Nirvana, the more bored I became of their music. Also you get all of these conspiracy fanboys who say "Courtney killed Kurt" and these people know nothing on the subject. Kurt killed himself, just cause someone doesnt want to believe it doesnt make it untrue. Everyone needs something to hang onto, and for all these "tortured" nirvana fans it is the fact that Kurt was murdered. At least have some info to back up your claim( i know the evidence so please dont respond with a post straight from www.justiceforkurt.com) Almost every famous, beloved person who has died before their time, has a conspiracy floating around their death. This is all an attempt to console a weary public. |
my favorite song by far is smalls like teen spirit
|
I was a fan of Nirvana for awhile, after Kurts death, it didnt bother me much except to not expect anymore music from them :(, As of now, I like them the same, but sometimes I still hear them too often and it becomes annoying. As for Alice In Chains, there not bad, but not what im into.
|
I like Nirvana for not trying to reinvent themselves once Kurt had passed away. Yes they do get heaps of radio play and its a pity the range of sings is roughly the same list as the poll options above.

Nirvana, once one of my favorite bands, a bit overrated but great nonetheless.
My view on Kurt Cobain is a different story, however. Great songwriter but I would assume that I wouldn't want to be his friend. He killed himself, which is reasonable enough for me to lose so much respect for him. |

and once again why am i not allowed to post an opinion on Nirvana in the Official Nirvana Thread(misfit???????) |

another example of how people don't have anything to do

I've listened to Nirvana quite a few times but I think they're overrated.

I like Nirvana but I believe they are overated for this reason: Nirvana would not be half as big if it weren't for Kurt. Sure the guy was great but no one else in the band ever gets any recognition, most people couldn't name the other people in the band. Nirvana shouldn't be rated so highly, Kurt should.
I want Nirvana to be rated highly because all the band members are acknowledged for their contribution, not just Kurt. GnR has Slash and Axl, not all the band I know, but more than just one guy. RATM has Tom Morello and Zach. A band should be big for being a great alround band, not a frontman who literally was "everything" Nirvana stood for. Thats not Nirvana, just kurt with bodyguards. |

Touche'
Though I don't know many who associate him with Nirvana, more or less the foo's, and especially not before they hum on about Kurt. It is semi disappointing. Even in this thread, out of nearly 600 replies there are only around 20 that mention Dave. Yet theres at least 100 that talk of Kurt. |

Kurt used to go around town before Nirvana began and he tagged "God is a homo" on many walls. True fact:thumb: |

Nirvana always bored me, infact any grunge band did really.
|
I like grunge for its raspyness, but other than that, its nothing to good.
|
Quote:
kurt cobain= raspyness just cause kurt was in a grunge band doesnt mean all grunge is raspy for ex. pearl jam...not raspy soundgarden babes in toyland....girl singers....not raspy |
Quote:
don't forget Alice in chains they weren't that raspy |
Grunge isn't raspy, it's sluggish and it's great.
