I don't listen to them very often and they still bore the hell out of me. And yes, "Lithium" is a boring song; there is not a whole lot about it that can hold my interest.

No one makes any concrete comparisons between the two, but Cobain is often credited as "the voice of a generation", and many people today put Cobain on a pedestal just as people their age once put Dylan on a pedestal.

I don't doubt that for a second.

All this talk about hitching a ride on a bandwagon when it's been de-railed and is sitting in a trench by the side of the road for about the last 12 years, never to be restarted makes me laugh

Its true though, every so often there will be a sudden hype about nirvana and youll see pretty much every 13 year old wearing a nirvana hoody. Its happening right now where I live, and its just not fun.

Well I think the fact there`s not been a huge mainstream music movement in the U.S. since grunge 14 years ago doesn`t help.

I would say Emo , but most emo kids seem to spend most of their time slagging off any band that sells more than 5 copies of an album as 'not emo'

over-rated...simple

i find it hard to deprive a song the praise it deserves based upon its commercial exposure

I don`t , It`s hard to like something when you`ve heard it about 100 times a week

I call it the U2 effect

Im not a big fan of Nirvana, but id have to agree with what your saying here

Kurt_Cobain 02-05-2005 10:48 AM

I remember when Kurt died. I really cried. I think he had so much to give. Every one of there songs meant something, and could mean so much to a singal person or a whole group. I don't think rock has been really changed since the demise of Nirvana.

considering grunge has literally ceased to exist and all this art student type rock is emerging- i think it has changed, plus you had the whole brit-pop explosion, i think mainstream music nowadays is influenced more by that than anything else

Delicate 02-16-2005 08:47 AM

NIRVANA... you know this is true..

Hullo..right erm.. id say im gonna get an earfull after writing this but hey.. So over rated its unreal. The best thing Kurt EVER could have done was pull that trigger. He got out just in time. i think if they were still around they would be a load of bollocks to be honest. DONT get me wrong im not talking down on them.. they WERE good at what they did but it ended just in time. anyone agree? or dumb question? haha

Fenixpunk 02-16-2005 08:52 AM

since i dont care for anything the other members have done after Nirvana, and even though i never really got into them, or saw the big deal about them, i wouldnt mind seeing what route kurt would of taken with his music, just out of curiosity. Im not saying it would be terrible, or great, but his music was changing towards the end and it would of been cool to at least see where it was headed be it better or worst.

Delicate 02-16-2005 08:58 AM

meh

ok you make a good point my friend.. meh. lol

yeah

deepestgrey 02-16-2005 03:31 PM

but notice, this thread hasn't actually said anything about nirvana yet. Interesting. Maybe this is because anything that could be said has already been said over and over and over and over.......

The first two posts are entirely about Nirvana. People just got bored after that.

Urban Hat€monger ? 02-16-2005 04:03 PM

Most rock stars only shoot their mouth off in the music press

Sneer 02-16-2005 05:00 PM

i think the general consensus with these threads is that nirvana were overrated. though we could have reached that conclusion after the very 1st thread of this kind. personally i dont think they were overrated. misjudged yes, overrated no.

Just because they don't read the same books you do doesn't exactly make them stupid. It makes them differant from you. And next time you start a thread about some one dead, have some respect. Dear.
