So I have been on this Kinks binge these past couple of days, and since I downloaded their first 6 albums, and I'm planning on adding Arthur (1969) to my collection. Now the band has 25 studio albums, so they kept releasing albums up to 1993.

What I want to know: is there any recommended albums past the ones released in the 60s?

Just makes sure you get Arthur, it makes all their other albums pale in comparison. It's the only album that truly gets the best of both Dave's huge skill on the guitar as well as Ray's lyrical brilliance.

After 1969 Muswell Hillbilies and Lola Vs The Powerman is about it. It gets a bit **** after Muswell Hillbillies.

I did download it a few hours after posting here, so no worries there :D

Arthur is one of the best albums ever. I'd even go so far as to call it the quintessential British album of the 60s. No kidding.

Couldn't agree more and I don't think they ever topped it. Yes Sir No Sir has to be one of the more underrated songs in their catalogue... that guitar riff is swell.

Yeah I like Lola vs The Powerman quite a bit. Muswell Hillbillies definitely has taken some getting used to for me, due to the country/hillbilly sound. Better with each listen, though.

Preservation Act 1 is pretty decent overall but Act 2 is terrible. I've yet to venture past that but plan to eventually, though not chronologically. I will be picking and choosing based on recommendations and general opinion.

Oh, I love "Lola": The live-version is really good for playing in a band, you play the guitar-intro and everybody shouts "Lola!"

The Kinks are easily one of the best things to come out of Britain in the 60s. On my many trips to London I made sure to visit to see Waterloo Station (not the prettiest site). I own quite a few of their albums.

Not shopping online, I assume? Otherwise I don't see how it would be difficult to acquire.
