Green Day ripped off a riff from Picture Book in one of their songs... oh yeah Warning.

Haven't heard a lot of The Kinks, apart from hearing their bigger hits from time to time. But I got Ray's album (Working Man's Café) free in the paper last year.
For some reason I think it's meant to be ****, but I enjoy it. Might get some Kinks soon. |

Muswell Hillbillies is one of my favorite albums of all time. Ray Davies is a genius. I think there is no better classic rock drinking music than the music of the Kinks. I also think their songs have more social commentary than the music of The Beatles. Listen to songs like Alcohol 20th century man

The kinks!
whoops just creamed myself. |
I'm really, really into the Arthur album right now. "Every Mother's Son" and "Shangri-La" are probably my favorite songs, I love Ray Davies lyrics. He paints the most precise, intricate pictures without being overly wordy.
I heard that one time they were really p-ssed off on the night of a gig, so they got on stage and played "You Really Got Me" for 45 minutes straight and then walked off the stage. I don't know if there's any truth in it (read it online), but if so, that's awesome. |
Their new album will probably come next year, if we can believe Ray.
They tell us the whole original line-up will return, for the first time since 1969. |
