Weezer has some nice, poppy tunes that are nice to sing along too. But I don't think we'll be having any deep, thought-provoking discussions about their musical talents anytime soon.
I kinda don't see what someone being/not being from America has to do with it though...

RHCP has always been my favourite 90s band.

Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam...

But above all, Rage Against The Machine!!

I'm referring to the different tastes between the two people. Like the attributes a typical Brit values in rock music could be different than what a typical American might value. Not that you're inexperienced with American music or anything like that (lol).

Public Enemy. For Rock, The Wallflowers I guess. I really love Jakob Dylan's lyrics, and he writes great choruses.

I think I know what you are trying to say but I think something like that would be more apt for mainstream music fans. The sort that would'nt post on this site lol. Buddy Holly is a class track though.

I really cannot remember TBH. I played the album maybe twice. I think I may have it on mp3 somewhere, I'm sure it was with bonus tracks too.

Buddy Holly is the best song off the album and dare I say one of the only good ones.
