Michael Jackson owns Prince so much its ridiculous.

I know it aint hip to say that but I don't care. I'm tired of everyone talking about how much of a f*cking genius Prince is.

"He did a song without bass, OMG"

I freaking hate When Doves Cry anyway.

Martin Scorsese directed a Michael Jackson video. I find that really strange.

Don't forget Francis Ford Coppola.

Most pretencious is easy: Deathspell Omega. Their most recent album is the worst thing I've ever heard of anything ever. First of all, the whole "planned chaos and insanity" thing is the most ridiculous and self aggrandizing cover up for "we can't even write a single song" I've ever come across, and it just boils down to lots and lots of time changes. How mundane, how boring. So what? And I swear the dynamic of "go from metal chaos to accoustic peacefulness so suddenly you think the cd skipped to the next track" thing is so overplayed it's just sad, really. That's it? Of course there is a "huge artistic endeavour" gimmick, too, it's supposed to be about the nature of faith and evil and man's relationship to them, but the lyrics read like a comedy reutine, really! Just a trick to trip up some academic snob, I guess. The vocalist blows too, his voice is beyond weak.

The least pretencious is harder. Maybe Darkthrone, they've gone from death metal to majestic black metal to heinous black metal to anti-metal metal to intentional excercises in boredom to blackened crust to a black metal motorhead and now seem to be working on a punk album and they never cared what anyone thinks. No politics, no scene, no trends, just a metal way of life doing whatever they feel is appropriate.
