yeah you can't go taking the anger out of metal... that's like taking the g a y out of disco.

When u say "angry" do mean the lyrics or the feel of the music?

Jack Black has angry lyrics but doesn't sound angry (HE classifies himself as metal sometimes but I can't say he is 100%) yet at the same time as I lay dieing sounds angry yet has unangry lyrics.

I dont think you do. I think the bands who are anygry come out with some pretty bad stuff because there so mad there not thinking about what thier music really sounds like.

metal is intense and so it instigates intense emotions in you but such emotions are not always anger or agression. personally, i never feel angry when i listen to metal... in fact, it makes me happy. otherwise, why would i even listen to it?!

I love the adrenaline rush when I'm listening to good hard rock/metal, however if you're talking Death/Black metal with demonic Cookie Monster vocals chanting for Odin's return sacrificing vestal virgins etc..., then that's when I draw the line. So I guess I'm saying a little anger/passion is usually a good thing, but over the top raving is not my thing anyway.

Pretty much sums up how I feel about it as well.

ya i think metal has to have that angry feel, like it wouldnt really be metal if it was all "flowers and sunshine :D" stuff.

...Christian metal?
it praises jesus but it's still considered metal. I think lyrics play a small role in defining a genre so that's my basis on this statement :D
