Does metal require anger and power? (bass, genre, amp, effect)

good point... I think the nature of the instrumentation used for the metal genre can give the impression of anger/aggression even if the singer isn't trying to be. Perhaps this is why most people associate Metal music with mayhem, violence, aggression, anger, etc. they hear the guitars, drums and the way the singer is singing and instantly think the guy wants to gut his ex lover and go on a killing spree.

So what are some examples of Metal bands/songs that would prove other wise to those people?

Well, if you consider Zeppelin a metal band (some do, some don't) then I guess you can use them.
