I haven't listened to them in a long time, but they are awesome. They were one of my favorites when I really got into metal.

Testament is great. If you want more thrash, check out:

Megadeth (the obvious ones)
Slayer
Overkill
Sodom
Metal Church
Mekong Delta
Dark Angel
Coroner
Tankard
Kreator
Pantera
Exhorder
Witchery
Voivod

I've got more recommendations if you want, but that should keep you busy.

I only have two Testament albums but they're a really good band.

I second Seltzer's list of similar bands.

I'm just getting into Iced earth. Night of The Stormrider is quite thrashy and I've only heard two BG songs but they're really good, so I'll probably get some albums by them soon.

Defenitly badass, i think you should get Blind Guardian: Live cd as your firse BG cd, its where they really shine. Thier studio stuff is great, its just all thier stuff is soooo good that i cant deciede what is the best. Live covers pretty much everything.
Thats awesome your getting into Iced Earth, spread the word about this amazing, and absolutly underrated band!
Deimos is a local band, you should check out thier myspace, they have 4 great songs on thier.

Indeed, get some Iced Earth as well. They may be power metal, but it's a thrashy kind of power metal.

You get the best of both worlds. Thrashy rhythm work and riffs coming from the best rhythm guitarist around, good melodic solos, insightful lyrics awesome vocals without the cheesiness etc...

Oh, and they're influenced by Iron Maiden which makes them even better .

Only the best rythm guitar work of all time! Jon Schaffer that is. He writes EVERYTHING too. He is god. yes, god.
