I have to once again take the diplomatic approach and go with two different list here, one being my opinion and preference... and the other being they way they influenced the world of music over the years.

I don't see what all the fuss is about Stone Temple Pilots, I've got two of their albums (Purple and Tiny Music) and they're decent but nothing special. Also I can't stand Pearl Jam, although I like Matt Cameron.
