Welcome to Music Banter, because if you don't like exactly what everyone else does, they'll berate you for it. However it does help if you put some effort into explaining why the bands you choose are in that spot.

Any discussion of this needs to include Black Sabbath. They helped revolutionize the rock genre and are still rocking away...at times.

At the moment and in no order:

1). Frank Zappa
2). Neil Young
3). Radiohead
4). Universe Zero(extremely underrated prog band)
5). The Beatles
6). David Bowie
7). Elliott Smith
8). The Kinks(Better than The Who and The Stones imo)
9). XTC(Yet another underrated British pop rock band)
10). Camel

Bands that just missed the cut - King Crimson, Elvis Costello, Bjork, System Of A Down, and alot more.(too lazy to write down the rest)

9. Mindless Self Indulgence

First 5 are cemented in their rightful place. Last 5 shift their order every now and then.
