Is there any weird Funeral Doom that anyone knows of? I have pretty much all the stuff mentioned in this thread.

And MB are definitely Death/Doom.

What do you mean "weird"? Odd instruments? Themes? What?

and I'm not backing down on Mourning Beloveth lol

It's such a shame that more nitpicking goes on than actual discussion half of the time.

The shame is that without that arguing this thread would have been pushed off the front page in a day so people can post the same 15 bands in the Top 10 metal bands thread or talk about the new Metallica album...again.

And for people really into this kinda music, these distinctions are important for us to make clear. Like I said, if you have experience with these genres the divisions between funeral doom, death doom, drone doom, etc. are distinct and noticable.

Who really wants to read pages of arguments though? I am not dismissing the merits of the thread. It is more of a dismayed feeling that this sort of fractious non agreement is still happening in the Metal fraternity over 20 years since I got into the genre.

You are not alone though. The dance scene is just as bad :D

or instead of bitching about it you could be happy that the "argument" ended quickly instead of going on for pages

how is it not "actual discussion"?

OK. Every thread in the Metal section can be comprised of the first page 'bitching' whether the band can be classed as the appropriate genre and then maybe the rest of us can join in and actually talk about the artists and not worry about tagging them in the wrong bag.... sound good?

It is a forum where we discuss music. Why should we not be able to congregate and state our case as to what a bands genre is so that things like recommending bands are easier.

There is no arguing going on,just a friendly debate or disagreement.

Someone asked about weird funeral doom, the closest i can think of is Ataraxie, which blurs the line between death doom and funeral. I wouldn't really call them weird, just interesting and definitely genre bending. Also a band called Void Of Silence might be worth a look, their new vocalist is Primordials vocalist. Void Of Silence are sort of melodic funeral/death doom if that even makes sense. Great music though.

I will now desist from entering a thread in the metal section and profering my view. You can all argue between yourselves to your hearts content.
