Dead fans are bootleg kings. My favorite of the bootlegs i've gotten in passing was The Nassau Coliseum show in 91. Branford Marsalis was guesting on that tour and sitting in with the Dead. Absolutely beautiful music.

Let's see... They were been around a long time. They were seriously rhythm challenged and they could not sing worth a hoot. Sorry, not really a good band but their fans loved them because they gave a great party. So they should have gone into the party business and left making music to those who actually could play and sing and those kinds of things. These guys could not hold a candle to Moby Grape.

False.

I dig Moby Grape, so that part's not so false. I'm just saying that from an improvisational standpoint in their time, GD were damn near untouchable. And not in the slightest rhythmically challenged. Not sure where that came from.

Vocals are subjective, so I'll leave that one be.

Not rhythm challenged and with poor vocals......what are you on about!

The vocals on most of the Grateful Dead albums are pretty impressive and on songs like "Sugar Magnolia" they`re so good that you can taste them!

I like Moby Grape but for all their talent, they only ever put out two good albums their debut album and "Wow"

I`m surprised nobody has mentioned "Wake of the Flood" album another top notch album, which saw the band steer into a more jazz influenced direction, the album is full of slow burning classic songs. I`d say the album was a real issue amongst Dead fans as it seperates their earlier sound from their later one.

I've never listened to one of them! The Grateful Dead are one of those bands like Velvet Underground. Just not my cup of tea.
