Man, I love ripping on U2! It's the coolest thing ever! EVERYBODY'S DOIN' IT!

Meh. I personally don't see the fun in U2 bashing-- sure they're a bunch of dip****s musically and couldn't write a good song at gunpoint, but its just too easy to make fun of them. Challenge yourselves to criticize more talented groups instead! :wavey:

I don't have much time for U2. I USED to like them when I was younger and I still think that The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby are noteworthy at least but I do tire of hearing them mentioned in ways that make them out to be a band they certainly are not.

However, i dont think No Line on The Horizon is a bad title at all. And its mainly Bono I hate rather than U2.

Well, it IS kinda fun...

I do think Bono has kinda become an overexposed media commodity in all seriousness...

But I guess he is using all that exposure for good causes, so there is an up - side to it all...

I think some of U2's more recent albums may have been more compelling / interesting if the lyrics didn't sound rushed. It often feels like Bono has alot on his plate and maybe U2 lyrics plae in significance to him - and, possibly, rightfully so, when you are tackling issues like poverty and world debt, talking to Presidents, Prime Ministers and ambassadors... a little rock song might not seem so urgent and important...

But the sentiments in the songs on ATYCLB and HTDAAB are becoming less naunced, leave less to the imagination, more straightforward... this might really appeal to some fans, but I preferred it when they said more with less direct phrases, leaving gobs of mystery to paint inside your own head...

Although I understand your point and I'm not going to say its wrong there are still times I will see what Bono is up to and just think that maybe at times he should realise that he IS a musician and should maybe focus on that a little more.

His causes are certainly noble and great, but man, his music was better when he channeled more of that energy into his songwriting...

I have to agree with both of you on that one. Bono's lyrics have been hurting as of late, and it's frustrating. I really wish he would spend more time on his day job than on his extra-curricular, good cause or not.

Personally, I've never understood the utter hatred for U2. They were a pretty god damn amazing band for about 15 years, and even their new albums, while fairly mediocre, are still better than most of the mainstream stuff out there.

Sure, I know Bono's kind of a douche sometimes, and an egomaniac, but he's a rock star. Not just that but a FRONT MAN. How many front men aren't annoying?

"Boy","Rattle and Hum", "Zooropa", "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb", what's next? "How to change your car's oil"? to be honest I listen to them from time to time but this title is so lame it hurts my spine

CHRIST Bono. I supported him at first but his whole "give aid to Africa" got Ennoying! now it is more of a publicity thing and is a total ass now. in fact a few days ago my dad was saying how he could not find any of his work shirts and I said, "I bet Bono stole it and gave it to some african children in some discrete village that he bought that he could ennoy people in a language they don't understand."

LOL XD
