Cool man. That's how I feel. I guess I could say I'm a fan of their earlier work. Though I'm interested in checking out their new album. I heard the new song on their myspace... Its well.. predictable and too repetitive imo.

I think what happened is they signed to a major label. I read an article in a metal magazine that they were produced under a guy named machine - who isn't a musician, just a producer. Weird... anyway. Ashes of the wake was produced by Devin Townsend. And their stuff even before that was sick.

Ashes of the Wake is the best album they've released so far, and is also quite possibly the best they will ever release. As The Palaces Burn, was also great. I didn't particularly care for New American Gospel and the Burn The Priest album though. But, N.A.G had some decent tracks here and there. Sacrament overall was a little below average. It wasn't horrible, but it should've been better. But of course, they set the standard so high with Ashes of the Wake that even the slightest imperfection on the follow up would seem like a complete disappointment, and it did. The vocals, composition, and lyrics weren't nearly as good or as creative as they were on any of their previous efforts.

Needless to say, I've got my fingers crossed with Wrath. From the few tracks I've heard so far, it sounds like it's a step up from Sacrament. Resembles As The Palaces Burn on a few of them. Hopefully, they'll go back to their old style and stick with it. I hate it when bands have something good going and then change their style just to try and produce something different. It's not always a bad thing, but it is in this case. But of course, all these little bitch boys get online and whine, bitch, and complain about bands having the same sound and same style on every album. Long story short, if you want to hear a different style of metal, listen to a different metal band.

Aerosmith fans who only listen to their ballads, Billy Joel fans who only know We Didn't Start the Fire and Uptown Girl. Pink Floyd fans are even worse than Radiohead fans though, I mean come the fuck on, I don't care how groundbreaking the wall was, pretty much because it wasn't.

I never hear anyone say The Wall was a groundbreaking album, and while the rock opera was nothing new, I loved Pink Floyd's bleaker approach to it when compared to The Who and The Kinks, I do love that album very much.

But the worst fan in the world is the Black Metal fan, now, not only the elitist black metal fan, but those who think that they are. Those who say they only listen to proper kvlt and then turn around and say they love Dimmu Borgir, and even (only sometimes) Cradle of Filth. Not even Death Metal fans are that bad.

And another thing about Black Metal fans, burning churches? So fucking 1990's stop talking about it, especially since the churches burned were beautiful! If I go into soulseek to find some album that has been bugging me, and decide to check out if there's any new black metal worth checking out. I usually go into the black metal chatroom, makes sense yeah?

EVERY FUCKING TIME I DO some french or british or whatever the hell guy PM's me and is all "you have a norwegian sounding name, thus must be an expert at burning churces; I need some advice, most of our churces are stone". At which point I make a note to self to never fucking listen to Black Metal again, problem is it has a draw on me so I never stick to it.

Wow.

Black metal fans really are that stupid too. Hey guys, let's teach the Christians that their brand of bigotry and intolerance is bad, I know, let's burn their f*cking church down, that'll show em how closed-minded they are.

The funny thing is, I have heard of no church burning incidents at all. Or if I have, then it never seemed to have had anything to do with black metal fans. So if they don't even do it, then why do they talk about it. What a bunch of n00berts.

Well of course you don't, like the dude said all the churches are made of stone!

Exactly!

I'd be willing to bet half of the people you see wearing Pink Floyd t shirts have never listened to Animals, Piper, or Meddle.

Pink Floyd fans are not that bad u know!

Most of the ones just wear the t shirts because they are stoners. I complimented one kid on having a shirt with the darkside cover because for whatever reason it looked really cool on this particular shirt, idk, but he had no clue what I was talking about. That's why it took me forever to actually listen to Pink Floyd... their "fans" just frustrated the shit out of me.

DSOTM and The Wall are their worst albums. If a fan states this then you are safe :D

Try being a Tool fan someday. It's immeasurably worse.

Never mind. You will get over it.

GuitarMan 01-23-2009 08:29 AM

For me usually these are bands that have just become ridiculously overrated.

U2-Still love the Joshua Tree, but they get way too much credibility for being an ok band.

Doors- Never been that into them really

Nickelback - I still think How You Remind Me was a legimiate song. The only problem is every song has sounded EXACTLY the same since then yet they are insanely popular.

Led Zeppelin - As much as I hate to say it because I really do like their music, but anymore I'll change the station when a Zep song comes on unless it's Over The Hills And Far Away

Deeppurple 01-23-2009 02:08 PM

Led Zeppelin is vastly overrated, but they are still very good. I use to like Rage Against the Machine. Not much anymore, and the Doors as well.

Dr. Psycho 01-25-2009 01:39 PM

korn -just grew out of them, realized over time that it was just crying and stupid noises made with guitars.

deftones - *** band tbh

lamb of god - just find them to be boring now.

most goregrind - went through a phase of liking this stuff, after a while it just got boring
