Default The Battle of the Bands at my school

Last Saturday night we had a battle of the bands in our gym. Eleven bands competed. It was actually a really awesome show with great music from the artists, and a quality lighting and sound equipment set-up.

The winner was a metal band called "Shank"...they were awesome.
In the first round, they played a Godsmack song, Awake. They also performed an original. In the finals though, they played Enter Sandman almost perfectly. Their victory song was Bodies, by Drowning Pool. Overall, I really liked these guys and their music selection.

Second place was a band called "A Single Second". They are mostly a punk band...and three of the band members are good friends of mine. They played an original in both the first round and the finals...that really impressed me. They also played "Is she really going out with him?" by Guttermouth in the first round.

Finally, a Rock band called Teen Angst got third. They played an original in the first round, along with The Darkness' "I believe in a thing called love". They did alright on those two, but the final song (Keep on Believing by Journey) blew me away. It was amazing.

Anyway, I just thought I'd tell you guys about all this, especially since the winners were metal, punk, and rock. I love events like this.

Here are a few pictures of Shank during their victory song:
btw, Steve, the lead singer, was so crazy that the judges made up a new category for him along with the other awards: "Best stage presence".

Sweet, I wish my school had a battle of the bands.

ya, a battle of the bands at my school would be good, all we have is an American Idol style contest. basically a group of dillusioned kids who think they can sing (with the exception of one or two actually talented people) get up and sing kareokee in the gym at lunch time in front of the rest of the school, then the people who watch vote on who should win.

Cool pictures. Glad to hear the battle of bands went well at your school. We had those back in highschool and they were always fun to attend.

We have a battle of the bands but we actually have it from all the schools in the city at one school. And it's all original songs. No covers. It's crazy to go to.

We have battle of the bands at my school and heres how it usually works

4 bands play 3 or 4 songs

1st band -punk or rock
2nd band- Pop **** (or something else that most people don't like)
3rd Band -Heavy Metal band (usually gets a mosh pit started) (which are technically not allowed)
4th band -Rock or metal (not like the previous band though)

4th band wins judges vote third wins peoples choice

This happens every year!
