A lot of those acts are great, but expect pedestrian releases at this point in their careers and some are not even worth mentioning. Blut Aus Nord may top it though.

I'd say Gojira is at the top of their game and the prime of their careers right now. The new release should be amazing. I agree with you about Blut Aus Nord though. What about the new Alcest made you believe it to be a top contender for 2012?

I've heard all of their records and most of the similar bands to them, this album for me sounded and felt like they finally put a cohesive stamp on the style and it's their best written, IMO, has a nice clear production with beautiful tones and great pairings of instrumental and vocal melodies.

It gave me that 'up lifting' feeling when listening to a new album that I haven't felt in a few years, ever since Cynic's instant classic 'Traced in Air'.

Surprises me that my opinion seems to be alone, but that's usually the case.

Gojira I'm not really a fan of. They're great by all means, but don't affect me in any way.
