Reading through the recommendations I was a little surprised to see no love for their second album, What's THIS For...! It's far better than their self-titled debut IMO. Also, there's the other self-titled album from 2003 (the one with the orange cover). That album's amazing as well, and one of their heaviest.

Hey guys, I've been meaning to check out more Primal Scream and Manic Street Preachers. The only albums I own by them are Screamadelica (PS) and The Holy Bible (Manics). What else by these two artists would you guys reccommend?

Primal Scream - XTRMNTR
Manics - Generation Terrorists (try to get the UK print, the different tracklisting is better than the "international" version)

I really want some good metal with prog influences that is not Tool, Porcupine Tree. OR Dream Theater. Or King Crimson.

I have to agree on the Manic album here.... different from their brit pop stuff, more in debt to glam punk... which I enjoy a lot.

Voivod circa Nothingface?

what bands do you like thus far? what style off metal do you want?

I looked on your last.fm and saw nothing to go on.... and judging by your tastes, I do not peg you as a person who would be into Death Metal, Black Metal or any form of extreme metal.....

Need a clearer idea of what you like to try and see if I can suggest something similar...

I'd suggest giving Devin Townsend a try. His solo material is a lot more toned down to his Strapping Young Lad and he has a real knack for creating this wall of sound production that just engulfs you. He also has a really great melodic singing voice, but can bring out a scream or growl if he needs to. His 1997 debut solo album Ocean Machine: Biomech is where I'd recommend you start.

Check out this song by Hammers of Misfortune; it's not very extreme, at all... but it's fun. It's goofy, far too saccharine, and has obvious 70s overtones.

I must say, however, that video accompanying it is VERY annoying. What the **** is metalblade thinking?
