Right, I know there are some proper metal experts on here.
I'm not much of a metal guy, but I <3 screamo, are there any metal albums that you guys can think of (any type of metal, I'll even give death a go) that incorporate the unorthodox punk, hardcore and emo stylings that makes up screamo?

Don't necessarily have to be scream vocals, but similar in terms of song structure?

Failing that, hit me up with a death metal album that is pretty accessible and won't just leave me with a headache. I got Utumno's Across The Horizon EP and liked that, so anything similar.

Cheers metalheads.

As someone else who's just started experimenting with Death Metal, I've to to say I'meally enjoying listening to Obituary. I've also started listening to Death and the vocals ranged from the expected guttural death growl to all out screaming, so that might be worth a try.

Can't think of any screamo metal besides melodic metalcore, and unless you are a complete snotball (;)), I'm guessing that's not what you want, but I've got some accesible death metal for you.

yeah, both of those albums are very accessible, overrated as hell, but accessible.

Unorthodox song structures:
Spoiler for show:

Watchmaker - Conference Call Immolation (Grindcore)

Revenge - Parasite Gallows (In Line) (Black/War Metal)

Obviously influenced by that post-1980s hardcore Alfred likes but still good:

Spoiler for show:
Unsane - Over Me

Burnt by the Sun - You Will Move (I can only find live versions of this on youtube, so.... no youtube provided!)

Accessible Death Metal:

Spoiler for show:
Vital Remains - Dechristianize (Has lots of noodly, noodly guitar bits)

Dying Fetus - Tearing Inside the Womb (has an exceptionally powerful breakdown)

Has no screamo influences, isn't brutal, but is ****ing awesome:
Spoiler for show:

Mercyful Fate - Nuns Have no Fun (Has some gay intro added)

Jaguar - Dutch Connection (amazing NWOBHM)

Unsane formed in 1988...and really for the most part have not changed their sound much....if anything they had an influence on post 80s hardcore

and everyone should listen to them
