'Carach Angren - Where the Corpses Sink Forever'. Pretty much the only album of its sort where the orchestral component is so perfectly developed.

Default Good prog metal bands?

I currently listen to Rest Among Ruins, Phinehas, Raunchy, Monuments, and so on. I'm looking for more bands like them as most prog metal is either super soft, slow, or the voice is just bad (in my opinion). Any suggestions?

Let me start by saying I'm not really familiar with any of those bands so these might not be what you're looking for, but they're all still prog metal that kicks ass so check em' out.

The obvious one is Mastodon

Devin Townsend is an essential as well imo

These guys are hands down the best modern thrash band imo, and the way they incorporate prog metal elements into their sound is beautiful.

Prog death metal can kick some serious ass at times too, and this stuff is environmentally friendly to boot.

maudlin of the Well are one of the best progressive metal bands around, and their jazzy, avant-garde style is out of this world (astral projection joke.)

And last but not least, Enslaved. One of my favourite black metal bands thanks in large part to the fact they take such a primitive, raw, brutal genre and manage to incorporate a very impressive amount of technical musicianship without allowing their sound to lose it's roots.

How about... Nova Express - Give Me Some More

or,
The Good The Bad and The Zugly - Please Kill Me (such a cheerful song title)?

Default Do you know any less known rock-bands that deserves more attention? Spread the word!

I started a new Modern Rock / Cock Rock / Scandinavian Rock Spotify-playlist a couple of days ago, with some more known and less known artists that, in my opinion, just rock, or that I think deserves attention.

If you decide to have a listen... are there any artists or songs that you think are missing from the list? Preferably in the same style or attitude music-wise.
