anyone know of any space rock bands, similar in sound to the clean-vocal breaks Between The Buried And Me often incorporates in the middle of some of thier songs?

If you're after space rock definitely check out the band Failure.

Yeah I listened to both of them a few years back, they lost touch with me though. I'm not sure As I Lay Dying is capable of writing an album or even a song for that matter that doesn't sound exactly like everything they've ever done.

I still listen to Job For a Cowboy every now and then, pretty brutal and it's good when the mood fits.

Looking for more Rock / Metal that's of a similar style to Inhuman Rampage by Dragonforce. i.e. not too Screamo, and lots of crazy guitar :) Cheers

Try material by groups like Blind Guardian, Helloween and Stratovarius these are some of the best known European power metal bands that would`ve influenced Dragonforce. But remember these groups have been around since the 80`s so have large discographys. But the craziest sounding would probably be Children of Bodom who add power metal to their sound and might be more to your liking, I highly recommend the "Hatecrew Deathroll Album"

I`m not sure if it Dragonforce that you like, guitar solos or the power metal sound, if its the latter there is a whole host of other bands to recommend.

Try some Kamelot, alot similar to Dragonforce on the fantasy, some pretty crazy guitar and drum work. maybe not as intense as Dragonforce, but much better IMO.

Also, Stratovarius is a great fantasy metal band with some pretty balls out solo's and guitar work.

And So I Watch You From Afar

A really cool (mainly instrumental) Belfast band, they lent their splitter to us when we had a Belfast gig in 2009.Things are picking up for them as they have toured as support with Them Crooked Vultures check them out on YouTube and myspace etc.

Not sure if this is the place to do it, but I was reading the first couple pages of this topic and read about Queens of the Stone Age. I had forgotten I wanted to check them out. I've only heard a couple of their singles, but I really liked what I heard. Which of their albums is a good one to start with?

Wow somebody who doesn`t know this band!

"Rated R" and "Songs for the Deaf" are the two to start with.

I'm not really sure where else to put this, aside from starting a topic. So in here will do.

I recently started getting more into Silverchair's discography, and I am really quite impressed. Their first album Frogstomp seems to get the most attention for some reason, but Neon Ballroom and Diorama are like, a lot better. Really creative fresh sounding modern rock. Strong lyrics and vocalist, excellent use of an orchestra. Overall stellar instrumentation.

Highly recommend you guys check them out if you like some sleeker and more creative sounding post-grunge.
