Check out Classic in the Making. Their song Never as Fun is awesome!

Why do you need more recommendations of the same? These bands are very generic of rock and metal in general (with the exception of say Nirvana, Soundgarden and AIC) Most are commercial and not very interesting at all. In terms of interest Tool stick out head and shoulders above the majority there.

If you want more interesting rock and metal I can certainly recommend some (or somebody else on here can) but if its more of what you have above, you`ve pretty much covered it already.

The JPH, with a list like that you might like Deftones. Early Smashing Pumpkins might also appeal. If you like Tool, you might want to also investigate Porcupine Tree, who are an excellent band.

So anyway, I've been investigating heavy metal bands a lot lately and was wondering if anyone could recommend some to me. At the moment, I'm mostly enjoying Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Budgie, Metallica, Slayer, Rage Against the Machine, Opeth, Death and Slough Feg.

Hmm well let's see.

If you like Black Sabbath you'll most likely enjoy doom metal bands like:
  • Cathedral
  • Candlemass
  • Pentagram

Metallica and Slayer:
  • Kreator
  • Sepultura
  • Exodus
  • Overkill

Judas Priest:
  • Nevermore
  • Communic
  • Iron Maiden (obviously)
  • Saxon
  • Accept

Rage Against the Machine:
  • WarsawpacK (not technically a metal band, but best described as if RATM took a chill pill)
  • Rehab (again not really metal, but a good blend of hip hop and rock)

Opeth:
  • In Vain
  • Cynic
  • Bloodbath
  • In Mourning

Death:
  • Control Denied
  • Atheist
  • Obituary
  • Carcass (their later work like Heartwork and Swansong
  • Morbid Angel

Slough Feg (Good choice BTW):
  • Devin Townsend

Slough Feg is a pretty unique band with not a lot of similar sounding artists, but if you like them then you definitely need to check out Devin Townsend.

Screamo Without the Screaming

I've been searching for a long time for a genre that best suits my tastes, very rarely finding success. The closest I've come so far is the music most people refer to as "Screamo" because it seems that the most talented musicians tend to occupy this genre. However, I CAN'T STAND growling/screaming in music. In fact, no vocals at all is much preferred to growling/screaming.

The only band I can even think of that fits this description would be Avenged Sevenfold's more recent work, maybe Bullet For My Valentine... but I would prefer music that's a bit more hardcore.

I'm mostly hoping someone can tell me what genre I should be looking in, and maybe some recommendations of bands that fit the description.

Thanks!

FAO Metal Fans

Most metal fans I've encountered have the same stubborn opinion that metal is far superiour to a good pop, soul, rock n roll record. I however disagree and do not like metal nor do I understand why anyone likes it.

So I put it to you, recomend me the BEST metal song. If the genre had to have a representitive in the form of a record, which would it be?

My mind is completely open, if its good and I like it I won't be too stubborn to admit it.

Should be interesting to see what people think!

there is no such thing as THE BEST SONG. Metal has many sub-genres
