Dopesmoker actually has two songs on it though I agree the title track is the more relevant one. And Jerusalem is just the song "Dopesmoker" so I'm not sure why you're making such a distinction between the two albums.

Yeah, the two are the same album... but two versions of I feel.

I meant that out of the 2 DS was the better recorded version.

It's interesting, you're looking at Sludge from a totally different angle from me. I don't disagree with the bands you've picked as examples but I think of them as on the Stoner edge of Sludge. When I think of Sludge the first bands that come to mind are the likes of Iron Monkey or Noothgrush.

I'll split the difference and agree they have some songs that have the sluggish quality you're talking about where I could see a connection to Stoner Metal. Overall, though, I wouldn't put them in that category.
Doom is fairly straightforward unless you go into its subgenres, in fact most modern day doom metal bands have actually evolved their sound to incorporate sludge and stoner elements due to their greater diversity.

I certainly look at sludge differently to you, because when I think of sludge I think the Melvins, Corrosion of Conformity and Down. I don`t actually like Crowbar and Iron Monkey that much, because of the stronger hardcore punk influence that they have!!!

Sleep`s Holy Mountain is a classic album and I`d say slightly better than the best 2 albums put out by High on Fire "Blessed Black Wings" and "Death is This Communion" But overall the output of High on Fire is consistently better than that of Sleep.

Why are you outgrowing it? What other types of music do you think can offer you more?

Not really, just find band that tunes their instruments properly and is at least somewhat tolerable to listen to. Easy day.

I'll go with the awesomeness that is Electric Wizard over a "somewhat tolerable" band any day of the week, thanks.

Surrounded by Thieves is a better album than Death is This Communion I.M.O.

Its certainly an ever growing genre with an endless supply of bands.

Out of that genre I think one of my favorites has gotta be Black Tusk, i like the dual vocals and the fact they kind of stray from the idiotic guitar solos that some people feel obligated to play.

I just mean, I used to sit around and listen to a lot of metal, and lately I have just been getting more and more bored with the majority of it. Good style, full of some great instrumentation... but lyrical content and macho posturing and cliches that haunt the genre just get to me.

I listen to a lot of the old death metal and now after hearing it a few times, just loses impact to me.

Slowly I lose more and more interest.
