Hahaha! I read that whole paragraph thinking you said Hellhammer, the new Tom Waits project.

Now that would be something to listen to. Tom Waits doing death metal.

BastardofYoung 06-22-2011 11:53 AM

Tom Waits speaking voice is already Death Metal sounding, haha.

When it comes to death metal, I don't really listen to it much. I do recognize its importance and respect the genre very much. Bands like Atheist and Necrophagist (just for examples) are pretty untouchable in terms of technicality. Personally, I attribute my lack of a taste for death metal to the difference in generations between myself and most MB members on this forum. I didn't grow up with death metal.

I didn't growup on it either, I aquired a taste for it later in life. There is a lot of great bands to come out of it.

Athiest is great, not a fan of Necrophagist though, I consider them wankers. Yeah it is techincal.

I've been really digging Godflesh's Streetcleaner. Does anyone know any other industrial bands/albums that use that kind of minimalism?

The problem is you've probably heard of all of the recommendations i would give. Rosetta immediately comes to mind and obviously Jesu.

Metal Connoisseur 06-24-2011 07:56 AM

Listened through about 3 EPs of Jesu...HOLY GOD amazing stuff. Everything just melds together musically, and even though there's a doom element in some of their songs- I never sense any melancholy overtones in the overall feeling of their music. Just an amazing band.

So I don't own anything by The Kinks. What is their most essential and best album?

Okay I'll check that album out.

Also, I have an odd question. I have Beggars Banquet, Exile and Sticky Fingers from the Stones and I have Who's Next, Live At Leeds, and Who Sell Out from the Who. I want to get another album from one of them and it's between Let It Bleed (I think that's their best album I don't have right?) from the Stones and Quadrophenia from The Who. What album should I get between them?

you already have had my opinion

if you want to get "Let it Bleed", get the latest 2008 (?) 24-bit remaster cos it's really dynamic and crunchy
