I'm not a big fan of live rock albums, but The Stooges' Metallic K.O. (get the reissue Metallic 2 K.O.) is awesome - my favourite live concert is actually a bootleg of two Velvet Underground performances of "Sister Ray" called Sisters Ray

try The Who Live at the Isle of Wight - i haven't heard it yet but the general consensus is that it's pretty good

Thanks Il, I love the stooges, but I don't have that one.

What is the other essential Who stuff other than Whos Next, LaL, Sell Out, Quad, and Tommy?

What else is essential Rolling Stones stuff other than Let It Bleed, Exile, Sticky, and Beggars Banquet?

Also, today I got 7 CD's, each for 2 dollars at a pawn shop. They are the following

Dio - Dream Evil

Dio - Holy Diver

Kiss - Alive

Kiss - Kiss

Metal Church - Metal Church

The Smiths - Meat Is Murder

Judas Priest - Ram It Down

What are you guys opinions on these CD's? Do you guys think they are all worth 2 bucks? (They are all in very good condition)

BastardofYoung 07-03-2011 03:14 PM

Metal Church.. classic thrash album.

Dio, I am not huge on, good for what he is, but his style of vocals really do nothing for me.

2 great KISS albums.

Not really big on The Smiths.

Ram it Down is a decent album.

MC5- Kick Out the Jams (extremely high energy live album)

Led Zeppelin- How the West Was Won (in terms of scale and epicness, compared to Leeds it's just as good. Maybe better...)

Johnny Cash- At San Quentin (I'm not really a country fan, but I love this album. It also has slightly more rock influence than his other works so it could match your rock tastes)

Jerry Lee Lewis- Live at the Star Club, Hamburg (The greatest live album of all time... in my humblest of humble opinions)

Speaking of Live Albums, Soundgarden just put one out I see..

My favourite live album is MTV Unplugged In New York.

Do you think they were all worth 2 bucks?

Also, I saw WFO by Overkill, First Strike Still Deadly by Testament and Unleash The Beast by Saxon, and Violator by Depeche Mode. Also saw Evening with the Allman Brothers and Where It All Begins by The Allman brothers.

I don't own anything from these bands, and was wondering if it any of this is worth getting? (2 bucks for each)

EDIT: What do you guys think of Wayne Metal Church? (the album)

BastardofYoung 07-04-2011 11:19 AM

Out of those "Violator" would be best. Overkill is cool, that Testament album is just alright.. just a rerecorded version of their first album "The Legacy" with some songs from "The New Order" I believe... those are the better ones to get.. but for $2 I would pick that one up.
