Parkway Drive

This band kicks so much ass! The songs " smoke em if ya got em, pandora and romance is dead " own! Anybody else like them.

crash_override 03-15-2009 07:37 PM

Yeah I've also gotten into this band recently and I am digging it. Some good stuff. They are from Australia I believe?

Boneyards is a pretty intense song, too.

I think they're ok. Nothing to write home about, though.

yes, they use too many breakdowns, but not all songs are slowed down as much as some of the stuff you may have heard from them. They have some songs that are extremely slowed down because of long breakdowns

crash_override 05-11-2009 08:09 AM

Saw them live last month, it was actually pretty good.

This is a pretty good band. The Siren's Song is a good one.

And does it make you sick?
Can you hear me?
Is she conscious?
Does it make you feel beautiful?
Bloodshed under the streetlights
Does it make you sick?
Oh, god, we’ve got a bleeder here
Does it make you beautiful?
Heartbreak under the streetlight
She’s lost again

^ best part

Unrelenting 04-13-2010 10:12 AM

Listen to acacia strain. Overall better and parkway drive is swagger jacking them.

Aren't people bored of cookie cutter metalcore bands yet?

Nope. (: If that's what you want to call them.

I think Parkway Drive are decent as far as metalcore is concerned. And that's what they are, Metalcore.

I think they are, at best, OK.

I'm not Parkway Drive's biggest fan, but they're not bad either. I like them from time to time.

I wasn't referring to the Metalcore part, more so the whole phrase. "cookie-cutter Metalcore bands." I also didn't mean that it bothered me in the slightest.

Bands that fall into the cookie cutter metal/deathcore category:

Suicide Silence
White Chapel
Attack Attack
Pretty much anything at Vans Warped Tour

Bands that don't:

The Red Chord
The Faceless
Within the Ruins
Winds of Plague

It's very rare that anything unique comes out of the genre, though.

I agree, there are bands on both lists I enjoy. I like Attack! Attack! and some Suicide Silence, but I think The Faceless are crap. Red Chord are just plain brutal though, how can you not love them?

Hah. yes, I agree with Attack Attack! and Suicide Silence, shocker haha, but actually Red Chord are okay too. Whitechapel I don't really care for.

Finski 09-26-2010 07:45 AM

Amazing band, awesome chilled dudes, saw them last night for the 5th time, w/ the devil wears prada and the ghost inside. Best band to come from here :) (australia)

This, I'm jealous of. I've watched Parkway Drive once at Warped.

I do like The Red Chord

read my post again.

The bottom list is the list of bands that I do like.

KaneMan 10-20-2010 09:31 PM

PWD has consistently been my favorite band, as in i like all of there songs there arent any that make me thing WTF?!?!? saw them in concert and they were really good :)

William_the_Bloody 10-14-2015 11:41 PM

New single sounds all right, yes not to bad at all, I'm going to get my ticket for the tour.

William_the_Bloody 10-14-2015 11:57 PM

yes, its nice someone can make commercially viable metal (metalcore) without doing those horrible effeminate emo vocals. Talented to.

Stornock 10-22-2015 06:06 PM

Should I go to an Opeth or Parkway Drive concert if I can only choose one?

Pandora keeps trying to shove this band down my throat. Finally had to start giving every tune of theirs a thumbs down. Not because they're awful but was tired of hearing them multiple times an hour.

Parkway Drive is just mediocre. Nothing to write home about and definitely not a band I'll keep track of or follow. They're better than a lot of metal bands out there but just doesn't have that X factor to make them stand out from the pack.

I can dig Parkway Drive, but after a few songs they all start to run together and I get the urge to listen to better metalcore.

Batlord, you don't like Opeth?

The Batlord 11-21-2015 09:55 PM

Not really, no. They sound like a boring band who have two speeds: occasionally good death metal (though Mikael Akerfeldt is a pretty damn good DM vocalist) and boring prog, which they jam together as if you can just haphazardly jam death metal and prog together. I'd rather listen to Cynic or Edge of Sanity, who Opeth are basically just ripping off.

And if you want to hear Mikael Akerfeldt's DM vocals used as they should be...

Havok 11-24-2015 05:25 PM

I've never been a big Opeth fan either, my fiancee used to love Opeth until their last 2 albums where evidently they (according to her, since I've never heard either of them) are trying to be some 70's Prog. Rock, King Crimson ripoff band.

As for the OT, Parkway Drive is a fun band if you take them for what they are, a basic Metalcore band, which there's nothing wrong with that if you don't expect anything more than that from them.

Killing With a Smile is still one of my favorites of the genre, their album Atlas was also very nice.

William_the_Bloody 11-25-2015 11:38 PM

I missed the Parkway Drive show unfortunately. My job pretty much has me working round the clock, and it was on a weekday....so no go.

I'm kind of curious about Opeth though. There albums are often hailed by critics as metal masterpieces, but I've never actually bothered to sit down and put in quality time listening to their music.
