Default Grunge Is Not Dead!

I've been a fan of the Seattle Sound for awhile. I have heard of and studied next to all of the Grunge bands of that era and even in the present, so if anyone has any questions about the scene just ask the Grunge Doctor.

Any new grunge bands to look for that we may not have heard of?

I'm tired of the seattle sound being called grunge, for one if you knew anything about seattle you would know the current sound is that spazzy hardcore blood brothers, red light sting thing n00b.

Also grunge isn't a genre, it was a trend. Seriously most 'grunge' bands have nothing in common except seattle, the 90s, and flannel.

Ethan don't be so amped to dump his opinions, you know damn well it doesn't matter what music is being played in Seattle now, or what the style of music was actually supposed to be labeled.

The fact of the matter is that record companies labeled 'grunge' a genre, the bands that were labeled that did indeed have a similar sound, and he listed many bands that fall under that category; so he obviously has a small understanding of the word already.

Edit: On topic, grunge is kind of dead.

Seattle plays a huge part in my music and its bullshit that 'grunge' is the seattle sound. Especially when you have post-emo, that blood brothers hardcore, and tons of other styles that emerged from it.

And i've never seen how Ten and Bleach sound the same.

I also don't see how I was 'amped' to 'dump' his opinion.

That's how you're 'amped' to 'dump' on his opinion.
Don't be condescending, you know exactly what I meant.

It's too bad you're pissed off that it's called the "Seattle Sound" but it was labeled that 20 years ago, and you didn't have anything to do with it.
The "Seattle Sound" could be various musical genres at any given time, but it's a proper noun, so it has a proper definition.

This is exactly similar to some place being designated as the birthplace of "emo".
In 20 years there might be a kid who lives there that disagrees, but that doesn't change the fact that even though it was a trend, it was also labeled as a genre of music, no matter how much it deviated from true emo.

I'm sorry i'll butter up everything I say from now on.

Grunge was around in 1986?

And when did I disagree grunge didn't come from seattle? I just say considering it the seattle sound is bullshit because of all the other styles that have come out of seattle.

Don't be ridiculous, why are you taking everything I say so literally?
I was going to say about 15 years ago, but I didn't think you would comment on the exact date, you know I'm partially informed.
You're still being condescending as all hell for no reason.

I did not say that you disagreed with Seattle being the birthplace of grunge, I'm aware that you just don't like the "Seattle Sound" having the word Seattle in it and being synonymous with grunge, I said there's nothing you can do about it.

Of course many different styles of music have come out of Seattle, but that doesn't mean people consider them to be related with grunge.

Also, if you don't agree with grunge being a genre, why are you referring to it as a style of music?

Style and genre aren't the same thing, I wouldn't consider classic rock a genre but i'd consider it style.

And just because I can't do everything about something doesn't mean I won't do anything.

If that's your reasoning, then your previous statement

doesn't hold.
Is classic rock a trend, then?
I understand that some music can be classified as a trend, but in your statement you said "It was a trend", implying it's completely dead.

I agree with your second sentence but feel it was unnecessary in this thread, the point of this thread was not to try and debate the "Seattle Sound" and explain how there are different forms of music that come out of Seattle.

The point of the thread was to ask the "Grunge Doctor" about the "scene", and what a mediocre point it is.
