yeah because jimi hendrix was tame

you couldn't miss the mark more if you tried.

This is all becoming confusing... I understood the second to last post, don't get what the point of the last one was... ahhh well...

my point?

the idea that cobain's biggest accomplishment with nirvana was to bring messy racket into the top 40 is preposterous. hendrix did it decades earlier as a simple example.

Thanks!!

(I am trying pretty hard to miss it... glad to hear it's working out)

Gotta say, too - Jimi informs my life on a day-to-day basis, but with the occasional exception of a Burning Of The Midnight Lamp or a Little Wing, his songwriting doesn't touch Kurt's ... though his grooves are muy phat, and his channelling of the cosmic quantum knut is bordering on unparallelled

In my opinion I don't think Jimi really did it to the extent Kurt did, and plus Nirvana not being all that similar to Jimi.
It was pretty much like Kurt was so popular at the time he could put out any song and everyone would love it, stuff like:

(I do like those songs though )

Also Cobain so big at the time he would she people what else is out there, bringing The Meat Puppets to MTV Unplugged, performing with the vaselines amongst many other artists.

journalists had to create new expressions to describe hendrix's music. jimi recreated the possibility of what could be done in a 3 piece rock band. nirvana reminded a generation that it's all you really needed to get the job done.

you make it seem like nirvana was pumping out crap and the sycophants would just gobble it up with that '...so popular...' line. that was not the case. tourette's was only released as a single to draw attention to the 'live from the muddy banks of the wishkah' album in 1996. 'hairspray queen' never got much attention if it was ever released as a proper single also. while nirvana has indirectly influenced every whiny depressed 'poet' from every high school across north america into believing they're words are deep, his words actually WERE deep (as opposed to an unending whine about being dumped / pissed off about having to let go of being a kid / becoming 'the man').

showing the masses who else was out there was a staple of 90s alt-rock. that's like giving them extra praise for playing power chords.

so... what do you like to listen to, and why? Honestly curious - I listened to some sounds on your --space page and I liked what I heard. I'm interested in what's behind it.

In all the arguements you have you always belittle me. I know his words were deep you don't need to tell me anything about Nirvana.

I was saying Kurt Cobain COULD put stuff like Tourette's on his ALBUMS. When i say he cou;d put stuff out like tourette's that by no means means releasing a soingle.
I do not think Nirvana was pumping out crap at all, they are easily the band that means the most to me and that I connect with the most. I'm saying the bulk of society sees something like Hairspray queen as crap due to the fact his vocals are..well you know. I love that song, but lets say some unknown band like, well I don;t know, were to put that on the radio, it would probably get dismissed by a lot of people quickly but if Nirvana were to put that on the radio it would probably be more excepted because you know their Nirvana.

You can say Nirvana reminded people that thats all you needed to get the job done, but I think they showed much much much more people, including ignorant people since I know self proclaimed hardcore Nirvana and Cobain Martyrs usually have a rep for being ignorant.

i don't belittle people. i call a spade a spade. as for arguments, you haven't even pissed me off yet...

try re-reading and revising your posts before hitting submit if you don't like the holes i poke through your statements. make sure what you're posting reflects what you mean and actually makes sense. what did nirvana show to much much much more people???

hell, i even goofed in my last comment, tourette's was never a single, it was aneurysm that was the single for the live disc.
