Alice in Chains and some Soundgarden are really the only two I like, and I mainly onlylisten to them when I'm feeling like a debbie downer, or if I'm high of course.

Have you even heard Mudhoney, Screaming Trees, or Green River? I mean don't limit grunge to just the big 4. Expand your knowledge before you generalize please.

I've heard a bit from bands like Screaming Trees and Mudhoney, but in my opinion, there was a reason that bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden , Alice in Chains, Temple of the Dog, and Stone Temple Pilots made a bigger impact. Call it catering if you like. I just think it was because they were better. Because it was a rare time when the kids were actually getting into music that had fire and reason and purpose.

And I only threw in STP because they started out their career by tagging on to the grunge sound. Core and Purple were excellent albums. After that, though.... the post-grunge Apocalypse befell the American consciousness and took Stone Temple Pilots with them. Or STP went along willingly because they still wanted to sell albums. Who knows?

It's hard to pick one, so here's my current top 5.

1. Alice In Chains: my favorite band, out of all genres of music.
2. TAD: released 4 great albums - God's Balls, Salt Lick, Inhaler, and 8 Way Santa. However, if the Melvins are considered grunge, they'd be 2nd place.
3. Willard: only released 1 album (Steel Mill) but it's a very enjoyable piece of sludge.
4. Mother Love Bone: If one can call them grunge, then they're one of my favorite grunge bands.
5. Soundgarden: excellent band

I never got into bands like Green River, Screaming Trees, etc. Their songs never grabbed me, though Mudhoney did have some good stuff like 'Halloween'.

Hmm. All of these bands are good, unsual album linup but okay. Usually I would vote for Alice, but I am hestitant with "Dirt", so I think somebody else deserves it. I would rather vote for Screaming Trees just to give them some credit, but I know that Ten is much better so thats my vote.

Somebody actually voted for 16 Stone? What the sh!t?

Of the albums up there, the kid in me wants to just go with Dirt, but Superunknown is an equally powerful album.
