Christian Hardcore/Metalcore

I'm not Christian but some of my favorite bands are.
I find that the messages in the songs are good, as long as they are not preaching to me. One band I can't stand is A Plea For Purging though.
I guess Christian hardcore/metalcore causes problems because some people out of the music scene would say that it's 'the devil's music'. But that just shows their ignnorance. What are your opinoins about "Christcore" as some would call it?

the religious background of a band should have about as much bearing on the appeal of its music as the colour of the pants you're wearing has on the price of meat at your local grocery store.

the problem with the majority of religious bands is they put faith first and music second which ALWAYS results in a sh!t band.

I think most "Christcore" bands are shit along with their secular counterparts.

That said, Underoath is a favorite band of mine.

very true

I think a lot of them need to find a good balance. Such as A Plea For Purging..

Christian hardcore just sounds safe and uninteresting to me. And most bands just seem to sound the same. As for 'the message'? dont get me started...

I can always count on Mr. Dave to say something that will summarize a topic in one short paragraph. Kudos yet again.

Yes, and they are also incredibly awesome, not to mention groundbrealing for their time. I mean the type of stuff they were playing in like 1996 was so different. Huge influence on all these bands.

Thats twice you've mentioned this band, not exactly subtle. Not because they are christian or anything but Gwen Stacy owns.

Not the generalization thing again. A bands religious background has little or no affect on the quality of the band. Yeah I agree sometimes 'the message' is a little ridiculous, but what kind of self respecting band tries to push a religious 'message' anyway?

Exactly. This is the key difference between a Christian musician and a musician who is Christian.
