Danny Thompson's best work is for Folk musicians, his peak with John Martyn. But he did some pop work, with Cliff Richard I believe. He also played on some Incredible String Band records.

Hmm, he will be up for consideration when I update this list again which will probably be sometime today.

Another guy I forgot about is Jimmy Bain of Rainbow and Dio fame, who also did some session work for Kate Bush and The Scorpions.

In addition to electric bass and upright bass, I'm also counting the chapman stick as a bass instrument.

You should fix the title of Claypool's essential record.

Also, Trujillo should still be higher...

Damn, Ronnie Lane is a good call. Forgot about him.

And I always thought of Wood as more of a guitarist than a bassist. He's only played bass on two records that I can think of and I wouldn't want to add every great guitarist who could also play the bass.

Thumbs up Very nice list

Very nice list, very well put together, although I might have ranked Les Claypool a little higher, maybe way higher, what about Chris Antrobus from Shoveltooth, IMO, I wouldn't have ranked Paul McCartney that high, just my opinion, don't kill me.haha
