Rihanna is a sweet slice of brown sugar, regardless of her musical talent.

I'm sure if Kurt Cobain was still alive he'd have an opinion on whether he'd fuck Rihanna..

It's all relevent!

I think his death was just a kinky accident.

Like the asphyxiate wank, he tried having a shot gun shoved in every orphis in his body.

He was going for the nose and he was so heroined up he accidently pushed the trig.. yeah I'm talking shit.

I think the man was a genius although I believe if he didn't die after the second album and Nirvana carried on to write lots more music, I don't believe they'd be rated as highly as they are now.

captured 06-29-2009 10:20 PM

yep probs..... hahah just thinking about him makes me laugh coz he didnt give a crap about anyone and he was like yeah screw you man makes me LaughMyAssOff

TheCunningStunt 06-30-2009 12:50 AM

Kurt?

He didn't give a crap about anyone?

He was forced to go to drug rehab, if he didn't, he'd lose his daughter. He cared about her..

i always figured they'd go the neil young / crazy horse way. cobain could have easily been successful as a solo acoustic act and then toured with nirvana when he felt like rocking out.

the real question is what would the foo fighters have amounted to if cobain hadn't killed himself.

TheCunningStunt 06-30-2009 01:15 AM

I always did wonder whether Cobain would be a succesful solo artist, I came to the conclusion that no he would not.

why not?

he seemed more than capable during the unplugged performance. whether or not he could have handled the stress has already been answered, but if you could take that away i don't see how he would have failed.

I agree with mr dave, I think if Cobain had of lived he would have been a fine solo artist. As a musician I think he was what drove Nirvana, from everything I've heard/ seen/ read about them. Emotionally I doubt he would be able to handle the stress but musically and charismatically he could have gone on to do some pretty good stuff.

Janszoon 06-30-2009 01:35 AM

I bet if he hadn't killed himself Nirvana would've broken up pretty quickly anyway. Obviously he was really unhappy with their career trajectory and basically without him there's no way the band would've continued on. I'm sure the Foo Fighters still would've been successful, though maybe not as much, and I bet Kurt Cobain would've pulled a Sly Stone and just retreated from the public eye. What I want to know is would Krist Novoselic still have dropped out of the music business?

As far as I'm aware, Krist Novoselic has still dabbled in the music industry post Nirvana. He apparently turned down Grohl's offer to join The Foo Fighters because he thought people would think they were just a reformed Nirvana, but despite this he's been doing all bits and pieces for various bands and I've read a lot of stuff he's written on music in various publications.

Really? I thought he pretty much stopped making music to focus on his political career.

Yeah, I did a sound gig for one of his shows in Oregon @ 6 years ago. Very down to earth normal guy.

Yeah, that's what I thought too, 'cause I've also read A LOT of political stuff he's written (my roommate is obsessed with Nirvana has has loads of biographies and books on the band and members.)

Just Wiki'd him and apparently he's been involved in musical acts such as Sweet 75, performed uncredited vocals on a few of the FF's tracks such as Walking a Line, did stuff with the guitarist from Soundgarden, another band called Eyes Adrift, and more recently a band called Flipper. Interesting. I haven't heard of any of those, though.

Hmm. I hadn't heard that before. Interesting. I guess that's basically exactly what I would imagine him doing at this point even if Kurt hadn't killed himself.

No reason really, just one of those feelings that will of course never be proved right or wrong.

Exactly.

Queen for example are overexposed, but people talk so much sh*t about them, I'd actually call them underrated, even if We Will Rock You winds up on every radio station and football game.

i'd say the number of Queen fans vastly outnumber the people who talk shit about them...same with Nirvana.

Yeah, but 40 year old dads aren't that f*cking abrasive about their opinions.

Just take that into consideration.

Most of his early demos were just him playing all of the instruments, and without a doubt he had the most artistic influence on Nirvana... why wouldn't he be?

Krist didn't drop out of the music buisness, he played in a lot of bands after Nirvana such as;

The No WTO Combo (with Jello Biafra, and Kim Thayil from Soundgarden
Eyes Adrift (With Bud Gaugh of Sublime and Curt Kirkwood of the Meat Puppets, only lasting a year.)
Sweet 75 (1995-2000)
And in Flipper for a couple years from 2006-2008, he is on there new albums Love(studio album) and Fight (Live album)
He now writes for a Seatle Newspaper.

Also, in regards to the outcome if he had a solo career, I don't think he would get very big, he didn't want to be big. The last week before his death he talked about leaving hte music industry or just going back to recording stuff on a 4 track.
I could see him just vanishing from the spotlight and going back to playing small local shows around Seatle with a new name.

$50 says he would have gone off his rocker and completely alienate his fans by switching to some weird, niche genre of music.

Like Polka or Calypso or something.

TheCunningStunt 06-30-2009 08:40 PM

Listening to Nirvana now, I kinda forgot how much I liked them. Not listened to them in a while, I'll have to put Nevermind on the stereo soon.
