He could argue for influence, and fail.

perhaps im being unfair.
but in my opinion, Slayer just isn't all they are cracked up to be. they way some people portray them just bothers me, and perhaps i have spoken with the wrong Slayer fans, but from what i can tell, if it weren't for Slayer then thrash or heavy metal would simply not worth listening to.

Bolt Thrower (Realms of Chaos) usually put out some really heavy stuff. Immolation (Close to a World Below), Brutal Truth (Extreme Conditions...), Nile (Annihilation of the Wicked), IMO some of the best heavy-weights of all time. Dark Angel (Darkness Descends) , Morbid Saint (Spectrum of Death) and Massacra (Enjoy the Violence) were good heavy thrashers. Finally, "Nothing" Messhuggah.

Possibly one of the heaviest albums I own is Physicist by Devin Townsend...I'm told it comes close to his SYL stuff, which I am yet to acquire... but I plan to eventually!

Slayer and Kreator where the only two original thrash bands that didn't end up selling out
