If this isn't just restricted to Rock music, I'd like throw Autechre in the ring. You have to leave all notions of conventional rhythm at the door when you decide to listen to them, and it can take a while just to get used to that - and that's before you move onto actual tunes and whatnot.

For me though, once it clicked I fell in love - and now they're one of my favourite acts.

Who woulda thunk Metal Machine Music would become an actual genre?
I got to say that I actually liked that, although it gets kind of old after a while. I would like to see that style mixed with some other more accessible stuff. It just doesn't stand well on its own for me. Although I can see myself warming up to this kind of stuff in the future, it just might be a matter of devoting time to getting to understand it better.

Trout Mask (or Beefheart in general) doesn't sound inaccesible to me anymore, once you get to that point where you "get it" it almost has a pop-ish feel to it, it almost feels catchy at times.

Honestly people, I've found something that is more inaccessible than anything else mentioned here: yes, even more than Merzbow. I believe this is the most inaccessible "music" I've ever, and likely will ever, come across. I give you---- STALAGGH.

YouTube - Stalaggh new track video - the most extreme 'music' ever?

WARNING: Not for the faint of heart. I wouldn't listen to this by myself for very long if I were you. It's absolutely disturbing. And for your own sake, don't listen to it if you're in the dark.

Oh, and for future reference, how the hell do you post videos on here? Can't figure the damn thing out.

From what I've gathered, the people who made this "music" recorded the voices of mental patients. So basically the "vocals" are mentally/psychologically insane people screaming. Pretty hellish. As fas as coolness goes, I think it's an interesting idea, but I don't consider it particularly artistic. And God knows it doesn't sound good. At least to my ears that is, I can't vouch for everyone else.
