Jazz started rock, which started metal, which started punk, which started hardcore... it all came from jazz. why else do bands still have a bass?

yes, indeed you are corrcect rain dog

rock was started from a mix of blues and county, by a man named buddy holly. He did it by doing county covers of blues songs like shake rattle and roll by muddy waters and people like that. Buddy Holly had no idea what he was doing at the time but thats what started rock n roll. The term rock n roll though was coined due to chuck berries music. The elvis came along and took rock n roll to the mainstream. In those days there was difference between rock and pop. The gap between the two genres started in the 60s, with bands like the Rolling stones, the Kinks (the band who discovered distortian) and the Who (first band to smash a guitar on stage). Rock became a seperate genre to pop and then it kept evolving as each new band came along

Ok, I admit... I might have been to general... however.. it DID take a process in which gospel was involved... ever wondered where the term Rock'n'Roll came from? Believe me, I know what I'm talking about... I had to write an essay about it for my musik teacher (theory) and got an A.
