How much does that cost?

Should be available around 25-27th I would think.

$45.

debaserr 08-07-2019 01:51 AM

Decent!

The Batlord 08-07-2019 08:11 AM

Half the forum is going to be so mean spirited to the other half when this album comes out.

That's not really saying much.

Your always drunk tho. Or maybe the more accurate term is "inebriated".

They sold boatloads back in the 80's.

debaserr 08-07-2019 01:26 PM

Frown is gonna love these vocals lol.

I still think 10,000 Days is a respectable record.

Frownland 08-07-2019 01:46 PM

Well you'll like the new track then because it's a retread of the same ****.

Anteater 08-07-2019 01:46 PM

I like the percussion and synths. Reminds me a bit of their Lateralus sound meets late 80's Ozrics a lil' bit. But it definitely isn't breaking any new ground.

It was admittedly pretty enjoyable until he opened his stupid mouth.
Still overall too boring even instrumentally though.

Plankton 08-07-2019 01:56 PM

Jones' percussive guitar approach is pretty neat, being not quite djent but still filling those DB levels and all, but they're a bit of a one trick pony with their tension building.

I still tell this story to the youngsters:

Ozzfest '98 was pretty killer in itself, but Tool really stood out. They carried what looked like a blue plastic statue of Maynard out and it stood in the middle of the stage while the roadies did their thing, then the lights came down and a spotlight hit the plastic statue as Maynard came to life! He stood their motionless for about a half hour and it freaked the **** out of me. The music just pulsed and I was taken away on their journey. Incredible musicians.

At their headlining show, most of what I remember was three naked people hanging upside down from the rafters above the stage and writhing to the music for most of the night. I was like "Man, that would hurt!". But yeah, Tool was real tight. The opening act... not so much.

I think I saw them at Ozzfest '99 too, but that whole concert is pretty much a blur.

The Old Joliet Prison people would love to have them throw a concert together there, but I doubt that'll ever happen. We'll see.

debaserr 08-07-2019 04:06 PM

I think it's the font more than anything that bothers me with the cover.

Maybe the art and album are supposed to be intentionally bad, you know, because that would totally subvert our expectations and then they become the best band ever.

Mondo Bungle 08-07-2019 06:36 PM

I was waiting for the intro to explode into a maelstrom of intensity but next thing I knew the song was over

Dayvan Cowboy 08-09-2019 07:12 PM

well now that tool has risen from the dead I suppose I should listen to tool for the first time......... something i said i'd never do

where start? i think lateral bingo and 69 000 days are the popular ones?

Lisnaholic 08-09-2019 09:07 PM

Bloody Hell, Dayvan! Where have you come back from?! I'm guessing Antarctica, as per your location, prison sentence, or amnesia. Welcome back!

Tool, I don't know about. I once enjoyed a track of theirs but have never followed up with anything else.

I'd start with Undertow then AEnima

Key 08-10-2019 12:02 PM

I've listened to the new track at least 30 times by now.

Mondo Bungle 08-10-2019 06:53 PM

did it ever climax

The Batlord 09-12-2019 07:02 PM

I just bought a nifty new garden shovel, and a drill bit.

Norg 07-26-2021 03:51 PM

there new album is very intresting to me now it took a while for it to grow on me

jwb 08-13-2021 02:57 AM

Hate tool fans but the actual music is alright imo

adidasss 08-13-2021 05:02 AM

Listened to them for the first time today. Went through Undertow and a few tracks off Aenema. I won't lie, it was pretty boring.

I guess they were important historically, as precursors of the whole metal revival in the early/mid 90s?

You had to be there I guess.

debaserr 08-13-2021 07:00 AM

Not really. I still enjoy them to this day.

Different strokes and all that.

Also, it's not really the type of music that's gonna hit hard on your first playthrough.

The Batlord 08-13-2021 07:27 AM

Also they were boring in the 90s too.

Plankton 08-13-2021 07:44 AM

They should have just released this tune and then ended it.

adidasss 08-13-2021 09:40 AM

I mean, when I say boring, it's just that they don't seem to have any discernable hooks. I like their sound, the guitar, the bass, the drums, but I didn't catch any memorable song. The vocals are probably the weakest part.

Anteater 08-13-2021 10:29 AM

Tool are fine. Lateralus is probably their best album as an overall experience, but 10,000 Days does have some great hooks.

Key 08-13-2021 10:53 AM

Seeing them live years ago has forever solidified my opinion of them. They'll always be excellent in my book.

Frownland 08-13-2021 11:03 AM

Ja, seeing them live really helped me realize how much Maynard ****ing sucks and that their fans are even worse.

Plankton 08-13-2021 11:12 AM

At Ozzfest 98 there was a blue statue of him placed on stage during their setup, and then when they started the show it came to life. It WAS Maynard.

https://c.tenor.com/VvZdT8fG4p4AAAAM/woah-whoa.gif

I give him a lotta credit for being able to sit still for that long.

I agree. I didn't like them the first time either. Really you probably need to be on shrooms or something to like them that much tbh.
