Anyone know any good bands

I know of a few good bands, but does anyone know of any good metal/rock groups that arnt streamline, but are good.

iceplayer744 01-21-2005 05:49 PM

Guns N' Roses are awesome. Sweet Child O' Mine, Patience, Welcome to the Jungle, Knockin On Heaven's Door, Civil War Paradise City and Sympathy for the Devil are all awesome songs that they play

ZutonFever840 01-21-2005 07:28 PM

Well for starters Rage Against the Machine is the best Hard Rock band ever....
Some other awesome rock/metal bands are the following: Sublime, Interpol, Radiohead, Motorhead, Red Hot Chili peppers, The Zutons, Kings of Leon, Megadeth, Earshot, Deftones, Alkaline Trio, and The Suicide Machines.

Do you only own the Greatest Hits album?

Raine 01-22-2005 11:13 PM

I don't know what this guy is looking for but I'm currently hooked onto this Philly based band called Octane. They're unsigned as of the past 2 years that I've known of their existence.
And they are currently one of my favorite bands. Although The Epoxies are now on that list as of about 15 minutes ago.
But still none the less. . .

Yeah well I hope your search for bands or whatever works out great.
Nutter butters to ya
Peace out.

hookers with machineguns 01-22-2005 11:56 PM

i applaud those who posted bands to this topic, because this is such an open ended question, i could be here forever. headbang, you should name bands you like, then based on that, people can make more accurate suggestions.

Beckmn 01-23-2005 09:21 AM

Led Zep, Nirvana, STP, ccr, gnr, beck, mountain, govt' mule, pearl jam, cake, i could go on forever...

Beckmn 01-23-2005 09:30 AM

Whatever you do, don't buy a Pearl Jam album.
The only reason why they're still popular is because somebody took a Pearl Jam album cover and put in a Nirvana CD case.
I'm sorry but this band sucks.

If it weren't for the fact that i already promised to put 12 clips in 50 cent, I'd put 8 into Pearl Jam.

Peace out.

Mixin 01-24-2005 04:38 PM

Pearl Jam does have a couple good songs: Last Kiss, Jeremy
"Jeremy" was writtin about a kid he knew in high school who was picked on alot. One time his teacher asked him to get an assignment from his locker, he came back with a revolver, said "I got what I came for" put the gun in his mouth, pulled the trigger. He commited suicide in front of the entire class and sprayed his brains all over the blackboard

[/QUOTE]Absolutely amazing band!

I completely agree with you, they're the reason why i got into this kind of music.

metalhead 01-24-2005 05:10 PM

can anyone explain to me how to use quotes?

hazyshadeofwinter 01-24-2005 05:12 PM

Beatles, Simon and Garfunkle, Metric, The Doors, Aquabats, The Shins, Joan Jett, Neil Young, Postal Service, ETC..........

Like that. There's a quote button on the bottom right corner of each post.

Yes I know the thinking behind that particular song.
Still doesn't take away from the fact that I have tons of Pearl Jam posters that i use for dart boards.
And personally I don't care about some dude who committed suicide years ago. I've got my own suicidal friends to think about and my own friends who have committed suicide who I like to keep in my heart. And after saying that do you see me getting a record deal so people can listen to me screech and wail? No. Do you know why? Because I don't want a career in music and because no one else cares about my friends who died aside from me.

Pearl jam sucks. that is my final statement.

Peace out.

sleepy jack 01-24-2005 07:27 PM

DOORS and well their just so good

kornslayer 01-28-2005 11:08 AM

knowing you could probably make people suicidal
and i'm sure even after years of trying you would not get a record deal
dont be a bitch because you have no talent
by the way, what kind of music do u listen to?

happyhour 01-28-2005 08:09 PM

Do you know the title or band who sings these lyrics?

what i really meant to say is i am sorry for the way i am. i never mean to be so cold, i never meant to be so cold.

i am sorry for all the lies...

that is all i can really remember of that.

Evil Empire was overplayed when it came out nearly a decade ago, and still shockingly overplayed now. Renegades was a joke, and Battle of Los Angeles is their equivalent of Korn's Follow The Leader: it shouldn't have been released, but it's what got them more than half of their fans to date. I have nothing but respect still for RATM, but they are certainly not the best, not even close.

Even if they arent the best.... I dont know how you could compare Korn to RATM... Korn are ****ty sell-outs who should of ended their carreers a while ago when they were still ahead. RATM had their own style of music that was unique. I have ultimate respect for Zack De La Rocha for righting some of the most political, and heart felt lyrics of the 90's. All of the other musicians in Rage are talented, and still successful now in Audioslave...

:bringit:

ArtistInTheAmbulance 02-19-2005 11:41 AM

I dont think I'll ever like Audioslave anywhere near as much as I do RATM... Audioslave are great but.. I dunno, for me they'll just never be as great as rage.

No, I never compared RATM to Korn, I compared two or their respective albums and how they brought upon mainstream success to the bands. Personally, I'm tired of hearing about RATM and Zach, they've been dead and gone for a while, with only one good album, it's time to move on to new music. Audioslave is horrible, they could've aligned themselves with someone better than Chris Cornell in my opinion (haha, you're name is soundgardner, whoops). I heard B-real originally wanted to group with the Zach-less RATM, that woulda been "hella gangsta, son."

Yea, If you listen to 'show me how to live' and 'cochise', the backing music is brilliant, but then the voice sorta dampens it a bit. I do like those songs but its clear that someone with a better voice could have been there. (My opinion)

yeah... lol ... I can see that I have totally opposite opinions on that subject, but yeah fuk it........ I'm not gonna try to start a big argument with you about it because you have your own musical tastes and I respect those...

If only it was your final statement...for good. How about this; no one cares about your suicidal friends.

On a slightly realted note, that isn't the right story about the origin of Jeremy.

I might hate you more than the Zeppelin twins. B-real would have sucked with RATM. I don't want to go from politically enlightened to a hard fought case on why i should smoke weed.

You say one liners like "Battle of Los Angeles was comprable to Korn's follow the leader, it shouldn't have been released" and you can't back that up with Fact One.

And while voice is a matter of subjectivity, you'd be hard pressed to find a better front man than Chris Cornell. The man took opera lessons after soundgarden, and trust me, you don't just show up and take lessons, theres a heavy cut rate, he can play guitar, drums, and produce albums.

Once again HWMG's flexs his punk credibility, and come off looking retarted.

For a guy that uses a pimp icon at the end of each reptitive post, you've got some serious attitude problem. Peoples lives arn't at your disposal to discredit, im sure what you meant was
"i dont care about your suicidal friend"
i think all of the rest of us do, but then again we are humans.......pimp

Once again, you're an idiot. I don't need credibility, because what I said was opinion, not fact. Here's a tissue, stop crying because my opinions differ from yours.
BTW, I dont know what "retarted" is, but I do know what "retarded" is, and unfortunately, you my friend cannot even spell the insult you produce.
Go ahead and defend your beloved mainstream mumbo jumbo. I don't give a f*ck about Chris Cornell. I don't give a f*ck about RATM. Who cares? My opinion. While you're stuck in the mid-90s listening to bands that have long grown stale, I'm moving on finding new music. Want to discuss more meaningless bullsh*t about people's opinions, bring it on b*tch. I'm ready.
