Worst Genre

state your worst genre of music and why. sub-genres are valid. bear in mind that in order to hate a type of music, knowledge of it is helpful.

Dance music & Trip Hop seems to have gone down the crapper since about 1997.

There used to be so many great acts in the mid 90s ... Leftfield , Death In Vegas , Chemical Brothers ,Massive Attack, Portishead , Air ,Jilted Generation era Prodigy , Better Living era Fatboy Slim ect ect ect.

Now they`ve either turned crap (Chemicals , M Attack, F Slim , Air) Split up (Portishead , Leftfield) or moved into rock music (Prodigy , D in V)

Well, me, i like to think i like a bit of every genre.... i mean i dont really like rap but now again ill hear a song nd think, hmm maybe thats not so bad, like "ganstas paradise" and "Thugz mansion" still seem cool to me. Nelly and usher for R'n'B is occasionally appealing for me as well. What was the question again?........oh

P.S i love rock.

I think Primal Scream make better Chemical Brothers albums than the Chemical Brothers do these days.

70s Stevie Wonder , Sly & The Family Stone , Hendrix , Micheal Jacksons off the wall album , anything with George Clinton & Bootsy Collins.

Granted most of that stuff is over 20 years old , but there ya go

Yes , all the elements of his sound were taken from there , especially the Band Of Gypsys. And he came from that background before he formed the Jimi Hendrix Experience. He just appealed to a rock audience too.

George Clinton`s bands Parliment & Funkadelic made music just as heavy as Hendrix`s material yet they were never classed as rock.

I`ve always thought that one of the reasons Hendrix has always been considered rock rather than RnB is because he is a guitar hero & rock music is more guitar based than R&B.Not so much then but definetly now.

I`m not saying Hendrix isn`t a rock artist , but at the same time you can`t ignore that his music was based in R&B.

you can say that about all black artists i suppose- which is ok becuase essentially it is their roots. i personally see hendrix as more rock than RnB but i see your point.

The Rolling Stones were considered an R&B band when they started

Sneer 02-03-2005 03:12 PM

i think most rock n roll bands of the 60s got their influences from RnB and pure blues. thats how they started- by copying classic blues songs and adding rythmn
