Default Steve Vai

Love him or Hate him? There appears to be no middle ground with this guy. Personally I think he's awesome.

.........and its a bloody awful song as well. As for David Lee Roth`s dancing, its almost like he`s dancing to another song as its so out of synch with the actual song being played.

actually i think it's a great tune (for what it is - arena rock cheese).

Vai is basically the ultimate hired gun. he went from freaking Frank Zappa to David Lee Roth??? a straight edged calculating conductor of a band leader to the most over the top coked out manwhore (i mean this in the best way possible) of a front man ever?

the guy padded his pockets thanks to whoever would stuff them until he put out the only record non-shredheads might have heard of (Passion and Warfare). even still, his solo discs still sound like a who's who of the best hired guns in the industry.

on the other hand, playing the hired gun role long enough to establish your own label and the ability to just play the crap out of your guitar for kicks all day would be pretty much just like living in paradise to most.

Steve vai is a great guitarist. check him out at the the clapton crossroads guitar fest and also check out on youtube his vid called rude horsie from alien lovesongs i think. He beats dlr in that vid, apart from he could never sing im just a gigalo, that was classic from roth.

I don't know how good he is....I mean, Ralph Macchio kicked his ass.

I like some of his stuff, but I think that his style gets old. What I can't stand is how all of these talented guitar players are copying his style, when they are perfectly talented enough to do something of their own. He's got chops - there's no denying it though.
