Best Earth album?

as a Dylan Carlson fanboy, i love them all... but i was curious as to what side of the fence other fans might fall

do you prefer their heavier/more distorted/straight drone stuff or the new post-apocalyptic western feel?

one of the worst things about living on the east coast is the extreme rarity of earth playing within 500 miles of me

Being that I'm really familiar with only one album (The Bees Made Honey), I can't answer this, but I will tell you that Fatz has lost his entire media collection and we need your's. Desperately.

Back to Earth, though. I don't know if I can choose between which sound of theirs I like more. I like The Bees Made Honey because it's dark and heavy with, like you said, western elements. To me, it's friendlier to the ear than the more distorted, drone stuff. I had trouble getting into their earlier stuff because, if I may quote a good friend, I am "the lamest 21 year old [I] know". No, really, though. I enjoy it, but I can't get into it. I haven't been listening to Earth very much, so I've decided that I'm not quite ready for their older stuff.

I've never heard Hibernaculum or Sunn Amps and Smashed Guitars, but out of the rest I'd probably have to go with Hex. It really is one of the great mood albums. That said, I like all the the rest of the albums in the poll a hell of a lot too.

I think my opinion is a little biased because my original opinion on the band is based off The Bee's Made Honey in the Lion's Skull but I enjoy that one most in terms of atmosphere and production value. I did grab a discography torrent for them, but songs have only come up at random, never put on an album to listen to in its entirety.

i have everything they've ever released anytime you guys want them

and if you like Bees then you would love HEX, to me Bees sounds like stuff that didn't make the cut for HEX

although hibernaculum is really interesting because its Earth reworking some of their older material in their new style
