I hope to get a job as a radio jockey, I would play whatever metal, rock, or punk song I want, I might play "Evil Dead" by Death one moment, "25 or 6 to 5" by Chicago the next, then "My Name Is Jonas" By Weezer.
I would also take requests.

It's strange how many people have listed Stairway to Heaven. I've never ever heard it once, and I listen to the radio a lot.

Most Metallica singles are overplayed. Especially the ones from the Black Album.

Not to the degree they used to play it in the early 90s you don't.

I hear only the Death Magnetic singles, "One" and "Enter Sandman" on the radio.

I don't get why fans of rock music complain about overplayed songs, if you're a fan of the underground what are you doing listening to the radio?

If you have a radio in the workplace it becomes unavoidable.

For most people it can be avoided.

Meaning there are some exceptions. IE the workplace. The only songs that have ever followed me round are Kings of Leon Sex On Fire/Use Somebody and Lady Gaga Just Dance.

It seems like the only hope of a song getting radio play is if its in Guitar Hero or Rock Band. :(

I don't listen to the radio much, I have complete control over it when I do so if I think a song is being overplayed I'm not gonna listen to it until I get sick of it. Fortunately most people I know like crappy pop music so they're only overexposing me to music I hate to begin with. Wait did I just say fortunately? Well relatively fortunate anyway.

Also, someone mentioned The Beatles. For the biggest rock band in the world they get very little radioplay where I live. Usually it's just Hey Jude, Come Together, Revolution, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and Back in the USSR. Seriously. And I think Band on the Run by Wings gets more radioplay than any of those.

Floyd do get a lot but only the big 3 albums. Zep get stuff played from all of their albums, all the time, so they take the prize, as much as I love them.

The only Pink Floyd song they at my local radio stations is "Comfortably Numb".
