All these groups are English bands and if you want an American perspective on things try stuff by the James Gang, Blue Oyster Cult and Mountain.

All this would give you a great grounding in blues rock/hard rock and early heavy metal. Its classic era in rock.

Hey im open to anything you see from the bands i originally listed i got South Africans, Americans , Canadians and i believe RATM frontman is of mexican descent, so anyway the point is it dont matter where it comes from as long as its good music. Am i right or am i right. BTW thanks.

I agree good music is great regardless of where it comes from. The reason I said the first 5 were English bands and the 3 others were American. Is that despite the differences in the bands themselves, that there is a very different feel and experience in listening to these bands, the English experience is very different to the American one. Taking the 3 American examples: Mountain are heavily blues influenced, Blue Oyster cult proto metal and James Gang very earthy, experimental with a good dosage of mid western rock thrown in there. All three are distinctly in my opinion American very different to the Brit bands of the time. It just gives you a great perspective overall.

Hey ive only just started to get in into rock music recently being a life long underground hip hop fan (say what you like i dont give a f*ck) and so far ive heard bands like Rage Against The Machine, System of a Down, Seether (Seron Gas) and Three Days Grace but i dont really know where else to look i order to broaden my horizons so to speak. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Stay away from Seether and Three Days Grace if you want to be cool. Also stay away from Nickelback.

And if you want an introduction to albums about WHAT ROCK TRULY MEANS, here it is:

Exile on Main St. - The Rolling Stones
IV - Led Zeppelin
Disraeli Gears - Cream
White Blood Cells - The White Stripes
London Calling - The Clash

The first four are exactly what I'd consider straight up, true rock, which means blues inspired, catchy and such. The last one is good enough that the distinction between rock and punk really doesn't matter.

Ignore my list at your own peril, friend.
